One of the best AMS professors I've had. Lectures are all clear and info is taught in a meaningful way. Exams are VERY similar to previous years, which are reviewed in class. Participation is encouraged and Professor Arkin frequently makes sure the class is comfortable before moving on. Relatively easy class compared to later AMS/MAT courses.

Estie was a great professor! Her weekly homework assignments help to make sure you're caught up with the material and they prepare you well for the exams. Her exams are extremely similar to the practice exams that she posts online. You really should go to class, though; her lectures are a lot clearer and more helpful than the textbook.

Real rough grade. I got 97 on the final exam, but I got B eventually. She said total average score like 90's to be A's, which mean I need to get the total average score above 95 to get A.

Great course and great professor! Some notes: - Her teaching speed is fast, stop her by asking questions!! - Exams are very similar to homework sets.

Good professor and explains things well in class. Homework every week or two. Tests aren't extremely difficult and similar to practice exams given in class. Not too hard of a class as long as you study

She is a very effective professor. The course consists of 3 non-cumulative exams and 9 homework. The homework and in-class notes are more complicated than the exams. The exam averages are high, so it's very competitive to get an A. She loves in-class questions, but will get passive-aggressive and arrogant if you ask questions during office hours.

To be fair her lecture was pretty good, but sample exams are never like real ones. She likes to give true/false questions and sometimes let you prove it. Take her class if you really like to challenge yourself and your grade. Very strict on homework/exam cheating, a lot people got caught(at least that was what she said) every year.

She was a fantastic professor. She really explained the material clearly and really made everything quite enjoyable. The top 30% of the class ends up with an A as well, so she's also relatively lenient with grades. Her exams are more than fair and I really did not have any complaints while taking her class. A+ professor.

Professor Arkin teaches well and speaks good English. The class itself requires abstract thinking and is not easy but you should do alot of practice and do the homework's. I got a B- mainly cause my first midterms were bad 60 and 77(or somewhere around there) but my final was a 95. Do well on all three midterms but she was generous with the grades

Pretty clear on most parts. The thing I don't like about her is that she tends to explain stuff without drawing it on the board and telling step by step.

Great professor, pretty straight forward, everything you see in homeworks and in class is on the test, and her exams use almost the same exact questions as her previous exams, which she posts on her site. Highly recommend her for this class

Her lecture is clear and helpful. But u need to catch up, or u'll get lost. Tests r straightforward, and she is a fair grader. She offers previous exams, which r similar to the real exams. Also, u can use an index card during the exam. I didn't take the optional final and get an A. She is awesome!

She's not easy, but like her style:straight forward and concise!take 341 at the same time and feel her class is so clear that i even don't need to study the textbook before. homework. Exam is fair but still have some tricky Qs. but as long as u make it clear for her to read, she gave points in a fair way. love her.

estie made the information clear and understandable. i would advise going to class, since she teachers way better than what you would learn from the textbook. homeworks are a bit challenging, as well as some test questions, but overall the class is easy if you follow her examples. she allows an index card for tests too!

She is the best MAT/AMS Professor I have had. If you show up to class and have a brain, you should get an easy A. If you don't show up, I can see you easily getting a very bad grade. I don't read the textbook at all, I just answer the HW questions using my notes, and I've gotten a 90+ on every homework. The tests are quite simple as well
