Mustafa likes to talk. A lot. Sometimes she can go on for 20-30 minutes if no one interrupts her. She is intimidating as she will cut you off if she disagrees with what you've said. Has a little note pad where she jots down everything you say so participation matters. She is a bit of a know it all. Take her only if you need the class to graduate.

Incredibly tone deaf, unspecific, rude. I took a class with her about the treatment of minorities and the importance of language. How appropriate; her treatment of minorities was so imprecise and generalizing that it was bigoted. Cuts everyone off. No tangible grading. She just "decides your grade" at the end of the semester. Horrible class.

Prof. Mustafa is very intelligent however she tends to come off as rude. The material was reasonable however lecture is more so what you need to bear with. Close reading will be your best friend because she looks for that and be ready to defend your comments she will put you on the spot.

You don't neeeed to do all of the readings! BUT having her applaud you for saying something in class is such a great feeling since she is incredibly smart. There are two presentations (one group, one individual) and two essays. She gives workshop classes for peer editing (don't miss them, you get knocked down a grade!)

You have to work in this class, but Prof Mustafa is excellent, definitely worth your time. She assigns the best, most engaging readings. She may seem unavailable, but if you ask for help she is completely there for you, and she's on your side. I learned so much in this class.

Hardest prof I've had, but also the best. Is accessible (office hours, after class) and kind. The readings can be difficult and long but the lectures are always helpful. Tough grader but gives plenty of easy extra credit- I got B's and C's but ended the semester with an A-. I absolutely recommend taking one of her classes.

She is fair. If you do all the readings, attend almost every class, and do the extra credit, you are doing to do well and probably very well. But if you don't do the extra credit or readings and miss too many classes, you will not do well at all. I think it's pretty fair. She's only a hard graded if you do not do extra credit or readings.

She is really nice and extremely intelligent but the class is very difficult and sometimes the lectures are hard to follow. Be prepared for tons of reading, I felt that this should have been a graduate level course. But she is really willing to help you outside of class.

Although the course work was interestng I feel like her input was very bia's to her own situation. I took a caribbean lit class and she focused alot on the sexuaity of th readings which wasnt highlighted by the writers but emphasized alot by her. I just found the discussions annoying.

Mustafa... so many things to say. I did not enjoy the class whatsoever, as my roommate and I would always do a "countdown to hell" as we walked into our 3 hour 8:30 am class. The texts were interesting and I learned some. In recollection this class was beneficial to me, but Mustafa is one of the most boring teachers I've had.

Mustafa makes it about the education, not the grade. She doesn't deserve the bad rap whatsoever. She's a hard teacher, particular, and expects a lot, but if you are sick of hearing your writing is good then take her and actually learn something.

If you are like the majority of the Fordham student body and prefer to take classes where you don't have to read much or think hard, then don't take a class with Mustafa. She is outrageously smart and her readings are challenging. Her breadth of knowledge is intimidating, but she isn't. If you want to learn, take one of her classes.

you've got to be able to take some abuse, but the bottom line is, she's a fantastic and highly intelligent professor. if you take her class seriously and show genuine interest you will learn an immense amount. those who whine about her strictness probably did not receive a good grade. don't skip class, do EVERY assignment, and you will fare well.
