Comment:

Professor Viola seemed almost disinterested in teaching half of the time. She teaches the class more like a law class, even though it's a journalism class. She gives good feedback on written assignments. Lectures can be hard to follow. The exams, unfortunately, were brutality. I would wait to take this when it is online, only offered at night.

Comment:

Viola is tough, but the work is doable if you are willing to commit a lot of time to doing ALL of the readings. Her lectures can be a little difficult to follow, so learn to take notes really fast and get down everything you possibly can. The exams are worth most of your grade, and they're SUPER hard, so study way more than you think you need to.

I think she's great! She really knows her stuff. People like the one below probably don't do the work or pay attention. Come to class and do the work and you'll be fine.

A lot student want to take classes where they're going to sleep through the class and pass with flying colors. In this class, you need to apply yourself. Do the readings, analyze the case studies and you will be in great shape! Professor Viola was extremely helpful not only as an instructor but as an advisor as well! I got an A! Just do the work!

Fran is an excellent teacher with years of experience in broadcast media. At times she can be tough & holds high expectations but she is extremely understanding. The class is fun and easy going. Do your work & seek her for help & you'll do just fine.

Harsh critic of our work, except she did not know how to do that same work herself, ie. it's a class about cameras, but she could not show us how to use those cameras for the life of her. Class was mandatory, although class meant sitting around gossiping about local news anchors who she claims to know every single one personally. Rude & very harsh.

She knows the business well, but she doesn't seem to relay this to her students. The class was unorganized; she was always unapproachable and sometimes rude. No explanation for grading. When she's in a good mood, she can be funny - not funny enough to recommend taking this class though.

very honesty person and better in law.she teaches at 8am(a pain if it is winter).take good notes attend class everyday.form study group.read immediately after class when memory is fresh and you are on your way to A.she can be a little moody or funny sometime. sign your name everyday talk with her after class show curiosity ask questions.

Not at all good. She makes you write stories. Says you need to write properly but never corrects your stories. You dont know your mistakes and we are expected not to make any mistakes. You cant approach her outside class. She is fine sometimes and sometimes not.She loves teaching her law class so I dont know why she is even teaching this course.

She was much better for law. Nice lady and can be funny at times, but I did not learn a thing all semester. She kept saying we would learn certain things, but we never did. Very critical and difficult to talk to outside of class. I think she expects you to know a lot before class. I would take Shenid if he is available to teach this class.

assignments had no directions or instructions ,and when you didnt include something she wanted she expects u to just know it should have been there, or been done a certain way. Rips projects apart, but doesnt clearly answer questions -taught us literally nothing. Basically expects u to know everything. Not sure how shes even allowed to teach journ.

prof. viola is a good teacher. i dont know what the first person was talkin about. she is not mean at all. yeah, she doesnt wanna be there at least for my class, but thats cause its at 840 so no1 wants to be there. she told us every single thing that was going to be on the exam and as a result i believe most of the class did well.

She doesn't want to be there just as much as you don't. She's real slovenly and doesn't give a rat's ass about her class. Drop this class if you have her. She's mean!! And never sets aside time for appointments, and if she does, she cancels them last minute. Possible ****.
