Comment:

Fairly easy class. Only 3 essays the entire semester, no tests. Theres no real reason to buy the books or come to class. He is kind of picky when grading, but it is easy to get a B in this class. He's really interesting and knows a TON about US History. Pretty easy compared to other TI.

All lecture based but his essays didn't have to do with the lecture, even though the lecture would make the essays a lot easier. Most people still showed up because he knows everything there is to know about the topic.

It's been said before, but it bears repeating: the man is a living history book. He can go on for hours and hours, effortlessly, about nearly any point in U.S. History. If you're fascinated by this stuff (like me!), you'll love it. If not... you might fall asleep. But if you love history and don't mind a lecture-heavy class, Geib is the man.

Dr. Geib is an institution at Butler. Anyone interested in American history who doesn't take one of his classes is missing out on one of the best scholars of the midwest. He is not a rigorous grader, but his questions are challenging for those who care for something more than an easy A.

I enjoyed this class. I was surprised that attendance is not required, but I wanted to come to the lectures anyway because they were very interesting. Taking notes is not necessary; just expect to come to class and be entertained while learning a thing or two about history.
