This class will help to expand one's perspectives, and I enjoyed the professor's frequent emails and feedback on the essays. It's a blessing the textbook for this class was free! The final essay was difficult but the professor was able to clarify the prompt via email.

His instructions for paper requirements are terrible. No clear cut grading procedure. Terrible teacher! The text book is very degrading towards certain races of people!! Take the chance to take his class. You WILL be SORRY!!

He gives terrible directions. Its impossible to do well on his papers. He tells you what he expects then grades completely different. He is lousy and is a terrible teacher!

I am not finished with his class but am thinking about dropping. His expectations are unrealistic and he doesnt give clear instruction as to what he wants for the 6 papers you have to write. 3 videos to watch on researching the last would never load. He should just have us read the test book and test. Too much for a small amount of class time

I took this class as an elective for my major at UTD, and also to satisfy minor criteria, and it was excellent. Everything was available from the get-go, the requirements were clear, and everything was due at the end of the summer term, so no having to scramble to remember a thousand different due dates. Do your work and get an A.

I would not take any classes with his name attached. His instructions are very unclear. He will upload a syllabus for the incorrect course. His retake exams are different each time. I would find another instructor that is organized.

I enjoyed taking this class for the flex term and learned a lot from the reading. The material is not daunting at all if you read it, and Professor Jacobs will offer help if needed. The essay prompts were easy to follow and not too demanding. I'd recommend this professor. It was a really good class.

I enjoyed this class. If you have any questions, he is more then welcoming. The class load is not light but not too heavy. Follow the course schedule and you will be fine. I would definitely take this professor again.

As an incoming senior, I was worried that I was in over my head. I thought that I would do poorly in comparison to my college level classmates. However, to my surprise, I aced or almost aced every single test and discussion for the most part by working hard to take notes for the test and taking my time to write my essay responses.

Similar to what others have said. discussion boards, 4 exams, final, and 3 essays. Offers extra credit. I only found one of the essays longer to write. You can retake exams one but not the final. The tests are simple if you read the book; they are knowledge based not critical thinking. Pretty straight forward.

I took Prof. Jacobs last semester for soci, online. A lot of writing, but it is all very thought provoking and interesting material! He even told me himself that he will very rarely give an essay an A, so you have to put effort into it! Discussion posts that require responses to peers, 4 exams, final, and 3 short essays at the end. Take his class!!

This is NOT a hard class but you MUST do the work. Can retake tests for higher grade. Discussions seem hard, but if you read them you can figure out what to write. This is college guys: it isn't going to get any easier once you go to a 4 year school. This class is good prep for that. He has extra credit as well. Book is online and free.

I took this professor online and I will not recommend him at all not if u r taking other classes. His tests are hard, he give u a second chance but it's useless because the test are totally different. Don't take him with other classes and the text book is very, very important. I don't know what happen to my eyes after reading the book.
