I'm taking her American literature class and its a joke. Do the reading and she just recites it back to you in class, lots of quizzes, and she tries far to hard to relate to students. Half the time in class she asks a question and waits for someone to answer. I kid you not she will stand at the front of the class for 20 seconds before speaking.

It's sad that there aren't many options for professors to take for this class. Professor Martin tries too hard to be funny and relate to sudents, which always fails. The reading is interesting, but class time often feels like a waste. Class is never cancelled. There is a midterm and a final, fairly easy if you read. Quizzes almost every class.

NEWS FLASH this is an english class, and you will have to read 6 books over the course of the semester. However, all the books she chooses are really interesting and easy to get in to. You also have about 10 "think-quicks" which are essentially pop quizzes on what you read, SO READ. She is an AWESOME english teacher. great discussions. Take her!

Beware: This is a literature class, which means reading. That is the primary focus of this course. The texts are not too bad, although some of them are deathly boring. Attendance is kept by random pop-quizzes at the beginning of class. It's decently tough, but really don't be too worried. Just put in effort.

Take Dr. Martin if you have the chance! She definitely knows her material and brings up interesting points in class discussions. 60-70 pages of reading due each class, as well as the midterm, an in-class essay, a scholarly article essay, and a final. Also, there are pop quizzes called "think quicks" but they're pretty easy.

Requires 5 or 6 texts. Assigns daily reading and has easy short answer pop quizzes that she uses as attendance on days she doesn't call roll. Class is discussion based. As long as you keep up with the reading, you'll pass no problem.

Dr. Martin's Ethnic lit class was fun. She is a unique individual, and a good professor. But, she is a little ditsy on occasions. She also has the annoying habit of laughing at things she says. Novels in the first half of the semester were great. The second half not so much. Just keep up with the readings and you'll do just fine.

She is a good teacher, and the books are interesting. She is a little different, but a pretty easy class. Just look out for the "think quick" pop quizzes, which are like every class. But still good - recommended!!!

Nice lady. Books got progressively worse throughout the semester. Daily reading assignments (avg 60 pages per night). Random pop quizzes. Essay midterm and final. 2 papers. Classes are discussion based.

this prof is very nice, but the class is painfully boring. she pretends to analyze the book but actually she just explains exactly what happened in the reading. in the essays, she doesn't want to hear any interpretation from students, she just wants you to regurgitate her lectures. easy but unstimulating. I learned nothing from this class.

Holly Martin is a refreshingly passionate teacher. Her class atmosphere is inviting, and she encourages students to think for themselves. I wasn't expecting much from a Amer. Lit class, but I have been very interested in class and all the required readings. I've read some beautiful books this semester I may have never read otherwise. Take her class

Holly Martin is a teacher who is refreshingly passionate about what she does. Her class atmosphere is inviting and always filled with interesting debates. I took the class only for a humanities credit, and I think it has been one of my fav. classes I've taken. It's a shame there aren't more teachers like Mrs. Martin

Very unorganized. She tries to identify with students using her mother's stay on a reservation as HER experience, which it is not. She doesn't tie any of the topics into modern day society. She focuses too much on Chinese lit because that is her background. When she grades your papers, if they aren't what she'd write, she'll give you a bad grade.

She is by far the worst prof i have a ASU. She is so focused on historical Chinese literature that it makes me sick. She literally makes me hate the class.

Class is easy! Show up, read selections cause there are random quizzes. One paper, graded very easy. She's kinda annoying... just looks at you at random times, laughs about dumb stuff, and corrects everything you say! Overall an easy class with not bad reading requirements..

Dr. Martin is a great professor. She knows her stuff and is willing to help in anyway she can. She really cares about you as a student. There are lots of easy quizes if you read and 1 paper. Bottom line take this professor for your last English credit.
