Comment:

Easily the worst teacher I've had through three years of college. She mixes up lectures she taught to another class and therefore skipped lectures entirely and assigned hw that was never taught, but its not like that really matters bc she teaches horribly. And also be prepared to be treated like a child for using your phone in a class you paid for.

If you want to speed through a 500 page math textbook this is the class for you. She's just kinda bad at teaching, you don't really learn how to do any of the problems. Class is close to 3 hours and she still gives a mountain of hw on top of that. Sloppy handwriting makes it difficult to actually read what she's saying And she's really bad at jokes

Useless lectures. It's pretty much you learn on your own class. Her grading is super strict and hand writes her test then photo copies them. Unclear directions on test, which lead to deduction of points. I passed her class for trigonometry, but if I didn't know trig before going into this class, I definitely would've failed. I know my group mates r

If you want to leave your class knowing math and enjoying it here is your Professor. Ms. Katz gives a lot of homework but repetition works. I went into the class hating Math came out loving it.

BS grading on projects, got a C on a project that fulfilled the requirements from instructions exactly. Gives a choice of project or test for most chapters, if you take the projects, check with her before they are due with a completed project so you don't lose points for something she didn't say was a requirement. Also very short office hours

Theres a lot of work and she really wants you to go to class. As someone who took calculus before, I did not care all that much and still managed to get a good grade. She is kind and really does try but I got bored real quick.

Would take her class again, great professor. Gives the option of doing projects instead of tests. Has minimum of 2 class tests, 1 can be retaken and 1 final. Finals can be half projects. Project assignments are not easy but a great option if you dont like tests. Trip to computer museum for Extra Credit. Accessible in office hours. Lot of homework.

Ilene Katz is a really good professor who's always willing to help her students. There is a lot of homework, but it's not overwhelming. There are a few tests that everyone takes, but usually you get an option to do projects instead of tests. The final is hard, but you can do projects for half of it. Overall, it's a very laid back class

she gives A LOT of homework! And when you need to review for the test, there will be no review. Maybe one question and it's on to the next section lecture. Prepare to cram for this class. After midterms it gets very hectic and the final is huge. Instead of giving you sufficient time to study nothing but the final shes adding more sections.

Comment:

Katz is only difficult if you don't pay attention, and if you talk to your friends during class. Pay attention, take notes, ask questions, and she'll have it drilled into your head in no time. Doing the homework also helps you along, so it's no good to you if you wait until the last minute. While her chants might be awkward, they make you learn.

I took this professor twice and my goodness did she make many lessons confusing! She explains things so fast, I often thought that as long as she gets it, she thinks we all do, I was annoyed a lot! She also does group quizzes, which I hate because I hate relying on people for my grade. Also homework is: all problems every other odd due test day

I took katz for both 151A &B. She is an amazing professor, one of the best math professors i've taken. She really wants to see you pass, and succeed in her class. She will do all that she can so, you can pass her class. She offers extra credit, and she has tutors in her class!. Not too hard of class, do the homework, study, and go ask for HELP!

She is not easy but she is an amazing teacher. You will learn algebra from her and be well prepared to move on to intermediate algebra. She really works to help her students succeed. If you struggle with math as I do I highly recommend her.

Ms. Katz is a good teacher, but not the best. Don't get me wrong she is nice and funny but annoying BUT I love that she has tutors for her classes. THEY ARE SUPER HELPFUL. Her hand writing can be pretty sloppy. She assigns a lot of group quizzes so be aware. There's also a lot of hw but typical for math. Over a GOOD teacher that knows how to teach

Plug it in-plug it in! you'll get that after taking her class. She's a hoot! She's open, honest, and realistic. She will write it, sing it, have you write it and if you still are struggling she will offer a tutor or stay over to help you. She teaches fine. Offers EC, She told us jokes before test, and reminded us to RELAX. Hippy love!

The clock in her classroom in Building four was always behind, so expect to get out of class at least 5-10 minutes after it ends. She forces students to form groups for group tests and what not. She doesn't respect that some students simply cannot make time to make appts for tutoring or help. To her, her class comes first. Her voice is annoying.

I can't even begin to explain how much this woman has helped me. KAtz totally changed my outlook on math. Katz did everything she could to help me succeed. She got me a free tutor both semesters I had her, stayed after class with me almost everyday to help me. I ended up getting the best grades of my life in her class. TAKE HER!You won't regret it.

She skips over a lot of problems. She gives at least 40+ homework problems every lecture. Makes homework due every test day, so not good if you procrastinate a lot. She teaches by reading from the book. She skips over stuff, but she drops a quiz and let's you re-do a test for a higher grade. So she's alright.

She cannot teach at all! She just basically reads 1 or 2 ex. from the book & then goes on to the next section then gives you every other odd # to do for HW(ex. 4.2 #1,5,9,etc.)for EVERY single section! She rushes & doesn't take time to actually teach the material. Also, when there's a test coming up, she doesn't review. she goes to the next chapter
