Ishmael is certainly an interesting professor. While occasionally forgetful, he is definitely good at what he does and always ready for a good conversation. He is pretty clear about instructions, but also leaves you a lot of room to be creative. Don't skip, though, because he might not give you a good grade if he never sees you in class. Fun class.

Yeah he's got shady memory but you get used to it! He's eager to help and see what you're creating. He's not your average professor, in a good way! I really enjoyed this class and honestly felt it flew by too fast. The class is very laid back however no one takes that for granted, everybody's doing something. I'm considering taking Ceramics II.

Easy-going teacher, takes you through basics. Encourages student to take initiative with work and practice practice practice. Mostly worked with slab building and coil building. Soto's interests in Mayan techniques comes through. Hopefully he won't retire anytime soon! Grateful to have his playful instruction.

He is an incredible fun and personable teacher. He is a true artist and loves his work. He may seem harsh with his criticisms on people's work, but he's just being honest which is great for someone really trying to improve their work. Highly recommended. He also takes a class to Costa Rica

ACC is fortunate to have such talented professors in so many areas...Ishmael is one of those uniquely gifted, yet humble artists...the real deal.Wish the younger students knew more who they are studying with.
