As others said, he can be an easy grader.. but you MUST ask for clarification on essay/project prompts because his instructions are so unclear. Do want he wants and you'll get an A, but you have to pry it out of him. For an oral presentation I asked him several questions about what needs to be turned in and he never directly answered my question.

Spare yourself the time and stress and DO NOT take his class. His classes have no structure. He has not taught us anything. His essay prompts are very unclear- half of our entire class wrote an essay on comparing two authors when he wanted us to do something completely different but that was not written in his essay prompt. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS.

Comment:

Professor Benin truly cares about his students and is passionate about teaching the material he covers in his class. He seemed phlegmatic at first but he soon began cracking jokes and many laughs were had throughout the semester in this class. Highly recommend.

Despite some of the things that are said here about him, I thought he was awesome. My whole friend group thought he was hilarious, he's so funny and caring and very personable. I would definitely recommend him. If you participate and respect him, he respects you. If you come into class and are disrespectful, he will dish it back.

His lectures and assignments made zero sense. He constantly contradicted himself, so no one knew what we were doing or learning. We never finished or even discussed books, so you could get away with not reading. We had 3 essays with very confusing prompts and no feedback. I learned nothing and didn't care about the class because of him.

Easy A. Mosaics is a luck of the draw class, some profs are easy and some are hard. He is so easy. Barely any assignments and the assignments that he gives are graded very easily. Yes, he is very boring and rambles and if you have an opinion that is different from his, you must as well just keep it your self but its wroth putting up for the A.

Benin is a cool guy but I can see why people would dread his class. He'll love you if you come to class/participate, but he will be kinda harsh in calling you out if you give him a reason and he will shut down your comments if it's too far from his own point/opinion. Personally I think his class is really easy and he's awesome so I'd take him again

Prof. Benin does care about his students and is very knowledgeable. With that being said, sometimes his classroom etiquette lacks. He calls out students for being late, giving a bad presentation, etc., in front of the class instead of telling them one-on-one. The class is easy as long as you show up and do all of your assignments.

He is very confusing to listen to in class. He called me out twice in front of the whole class and enjoys calling out students. If you have an opinion against his, he would even consider to listen to your argument. He does not follow the syllabus. My friend told me take him and worst decision ever. I enjoy going to calculus over this class.

WARNING!!!!!!!!! Even if he is the last option open for mosaics, DO NOT TAKE HIM. He will force you to answer things you did not want to speak up about, and then shut you down to the fullest extent. Very frustrating, he's contradicting although he thinks he's always right. I dread going to his class every time I have it.

Professor Benin was very caring and genuine. He means well and truly cares about his students and wants them to pass. With that being said, he is very big on participation and if you don't read the required text for homework, you will be lost in class. So just show up, be respectful, and participate the most you can and you will be okay.

The BEST PROFESSOR at Temple!!! He is very clear, and such a nice professor! No pop quizzes, only one 5 paragraph essay for midterm, told us all the questions for the final, and if you show up, you will pass!!!!!! Want an easy A? Take him... Such an easy class, so happy I took him!

I great guy to discuss topics with outside of class but not great in class. Goes on tangents, sometimes singles out, makes fun of, and embarassing students in class randomly. Only put on assignment on blackboard and didn't know my grade til the end of the semester. Books are good but rarely discuss them usually just sit in class and read them aloud
