He would read from the textbook the entire class, and occasionally from Wikipedia. I would not recommend. Really no assignments except for 4 essays, but he would never have any comments on the information I wrote; instead he would knock off a letter grade because of grammar (I do not have grammar problems). He is so smart but will not make it fun

Honestly, classes can get a little boring because he just reads what he assigns, but he is very well versed. Professor Doan has a lot of knowledge and can answer any questions you may have about religion, but it isn't a difficult class. Just a few short essays which aren't too challenging and oral presentation at the end of the semester.

He has no structure to his grading system, and explains your grade with a single sentence. If you are writing an opinion essay make sure its his opinion or there is a zero percent chance of getting an A. I had to go to office hours constantly to write the papers that he wanted. If you want an A, go in and ask questions.

He is really nice and understanding. In class he tends to read from the book a lot but this means that you don't really have to read before class. This is good because he assigns essays based on the book so as long as you pay attention in class you don't have to do much research for any of his papers.

Dr. Doan was fantastic. He's a very smart man who really knows his world literature. The class had 5 grades: 4 essays worth 20% each and another 20% for participation. The essay questions aren't super difficult and he's very accessible by e-mail. He can be somewhat inaudible at times, so sit near the front if you want to hear interesting lectures.

Dr. Doan is a great professor and taking Intro to World Religions is a great class to take with him because he is so well versed on a lot of the subjects. However, his lectures can be quite boring since he is basically re reading the assigned chapters. He doesn't require attendance so if you don't show up all the time you can still get an A.

He is very helpful and super nice! Be ready to participate and talk every week. You will do well if you speak up and have something to say. Instead of stressing his students out, he is all about conversation and speaking about the readings assigned. Read and you will definitely be fine. His prompts are fair and straightforward. He's the best!!!

Professor Doan is great!! He is very straightforward and lays out the expectations on the first day of class. He gives his essay questions in advance, and you have time to work on them. He is also very understanding and excellent in office hours. Participate in class (he is a fan of that) and be on the look out for his extra credit! He is awesome!!

Professor Doan is a great professor. His class is fun and he is very funny. You are expected to present your 3 assignments as it is a part of your grade. You can either read out your paper or talk about whatever topic you choose. There are very few assignments and they are very easy, like "Collect a Joke". He does like when you get cultural.

Generally, Prof. Doan is a good teacher. His lectures are long, dull, but he is very passionate about the topics. Doan's tests are essays and he uses the textbook, but likes to gather his own info so for the most part you listen. A fair grader, just show up to class, and he also gives extra credit. Ask questions, create discussions.

Absolutely LOVE Professor Doan. Taken him before and always a pleasure. Yes, he is a bit dull while lecturing, but he is easy going and straightforward. Just do as he asks and you will get an A.

He's a very nice guy and really enjoys the subjects he teaches, but it is very difficult to focus in class. He is a little dull and tends to mumble. It is just him and a podium for 50 minutes. There are no tests, so there is no personal encouragement to read the book, but the final and midterms are essays (he lets you write them in advance).

A good professor, not a difficult class to pass but its a struggle sometimes because he can be a bit dull. A few essays, the midterm, final, and a project - easy stuff. He mostly talks throughout the class and the best part of the whole course is the end, not because its over but he throws a small party while we present our projects. Awesome!

He is extremely MONOTONE. One of the greatest challenges of his class is staying awake, the other challenge is getting there because you dread going. BEWARE.

Really fun class, he's a laid back guy and is not really anal about the course work. He's more of a discussion type of person; the only problem I had with him is that he mumbles. Easy assignments, 2 essays and 1 creative writing paper and a project on your choice. Take him! :)

Had him for an honors seminar, it was TOO easy, very nice teacher, caring, and helpful, if only all professors at NSU were like this. The seminar was watching a movie and like 2 quizzes, which he is very lenient in grading. I got an A, and so can you!

Excellent and highly knowledgeable professor, does a good job of complementing the literature with slides and movies, simply read the assignments and put a little effort into the essays and his class is relatively easy, you can often get by with cliffnotes, but few reading assignments are long

I had to hold my lids up with match sticks when I was in this class. He talks low, slow and without any great interest. If you like low and slow, take him, otherwise, get someone with more spunk.
