I graduated from Gettysburg College 10 years ago, and I now teach English. I constantly find myself inspired by his teaching style and EXTENSIVE knowledge. Prof. Myers provided me with my most valued and valuable classes at Gettysburg. Run, do not walk, to take his classes. Especially the Hamlet seminar, if he is still teaching it.

He's a Shakespeare genius. So that makes class difficult sometimes just because he is so smart! But if you focus, read your plays and come to class every day, you will do fine.

You will initially hate his class due to his harsh grading, but if you put the work in, i promise that you will find extreme value in taking his class by the end of the semester. The class material is slightly boring, but the true value of the class lies within Myers ability to make you a better writer. Easily the best professor I have had thus far

Myers is a Shakespeare genius. Unfortunately that means you usually won't understand a word he is saying. He's a hard grader, but it IS possible to get an A in his class. Pay attention, read a lot of literary criticism, and check your grammar.

He is a hard professor with difficult grading, but he has a wealth of knowledge and really knows his stuff. There is no other person I would trust with teaching the bard. While his grading is difficult- the skills he taught me were extremely valuable and as a result all of my other grades in my other classes went up. He teaches you how to analyze.

I did not enjoy one moment of his class. Best of luck. He is unfriendly from the start and thinks he knows everything there is to know about Shakespeare (which he probably does) and lets you know that you know nothing and that there is no hope for your writing. Truth hurts, but there are better ways to go about teaching.

myers is the most intelligent yet at the same time most human of all the professors i ever had. i've never learned so much from someone. he made me to learn my self while he was lecturing on shakespeare or chit-chatting about food. i had given up on gburg and came back only because of him.

Wow, after taking this class, I probably won't get into law school. Nearly every student in the class got below a C- on his first paper. The subsequent grades weren't much better either. If you don't mind broad, sweeping generalizations in lectures and a steady diet of C's, then take Myers, otherwise, stay clear.

This class single handedly ruined my GPA. I love Shakespeare, but this class has made me cringe whenever I hear the name. I have never cried so many time for one class. If you like your GPA, do not take a class with him!!!

Myers is extremely intelligent and a little bit eccentric. So many people I know dropped his classes because they just didn't get it. He's a critical grader, but he wants you to succeed. I feel privledged to have taken 5 of his classes (ENG 365, 366, 403 C

JP Myers is the man. He's the reason I chose English as my major. He is unbelievable intelligent and interesting. And he's really honest (but not in a harsh way) about critiquing you work and your writing. Feel privileged to have been taught by him.
