Dr. Shore offers many resources for his students to do well in his class. He has practice exams with answers and explanations on D2L for every exam. He also has video lectures posted and the homework (not mandatory) has explanations for every answer. There are no surprises and doing well in his class is up to how much work you put in.

You must watch the daily videos or you will not pass because while in class there is no teaching of the current chapter but clicker questions of the whole unit.

I absolutely loved Chem 112 with Dr. Shore. He gives his students so many resources to do well and he posts all his lectures online in case you need to go back to understand something better. The worksheets are extremely helpful and his practice exams are practically identical to the tests. If you attend lecture and put in the work you'll be fine.

Horrible teacher. If you didn't have an amazing high school chemistry class you will struggle. He doesn't explain anything and you have to teach yourself all of the material. He expects you to memorize everything he says and is very hard to understand. If you can take chem with any other teacher you should.

Comment:
Jay Shore gives resources to succeed but is terrible at teaching in lecture. He only teaches specifics but expects you to already know the basics and students can get left behind quickly. Class is notoriously hard for freshmen but then again about half the freshmen shouldn't be in college in the first place. One must teach themselves the material.

Within this class, Jay Shore provides worksheets to help understand the material. Before every test, Shore also provides pre-tests to help his students study.

If you don't have a basic understanding of the topics, you will not get any of this class. Jay talks only about the specifics and leaves you in the dust if you don't understand it right away.

Jay Shore is a very simple teacher. He teaches you material and that is what on the test. There are no trick questions or "best answer possible" questions on his tests which I really enjoyed. It is a very straight forward class and easy if you put in the work.

The text book for this class is not mandatory, he even tells you not to buy it. He posts video lectures that you can watch before coming to class. He also has worksheets for every chapter and practice exams. There are clicker questions almost every lecture so it is important to attend class so that you dont miss those points. Tests arent too bad.

Dr. Shore is a great professor. It is obvious that he cares about how you are doing in the class, and if you are having trouble understanding anything, he is happy to help you himself, or connect you with someone who can help. My favorite college professor so far.

I took Chem 112 with Shore. The class was pretty easy, and the only homework was optional packets that I would recommend doing. Tests can be a little difficult because he tries to trick you on some questions but as long as you know the material youll be fine.

He contradicts himself a lot. He'll say something and then after a clicker question, he'll say the exact opposite. He goes too fast during lecture as well. I feel like he's too smart to be teaching us, and gets confused of we don't understand.
