She is very confusing, she gets off of topic. She can come off in an attacking manor even though she is trying to help. Hated her and the class. Lots of reading.

Jean Jost is NOT a difficult professor. She is extremely understanding and easy to work with if you are respectful and communicate with her. Her 1 night a week night class is very long but if you participate it goes by faster and your grade will benefit. The only people who hate her class are disrespectful students who put in no effort.

Do not take this class. She is a pretty easy grader but, the lectures are very boring and long. She cares a lot about attendance but what was said in class didn't pertain to the course. Jost tried to have class discussions but instead turned them into pointless debates. Everyone was on their phones or computers the whole class period. Very boring.

She was really contradictory throughout the whole class. Her assignments were super unclear and it was not an enjoyable class. I would recommend finding another Lit class to take instead of this one. She just reads out of the book the whole class then gives you large papers to write. I do not recommend this class/teacher.

If you don't have to take her, DON'T. The feedback I receive doesn't help me become a better writer. We read stupid stories every day or talk about irrelevant subjects. I almost fall asleep every class. She also contradicts herself on every paper, so you never know what she wants. She gets very upset if you miss class, major attendance points.

Don't take this class if you are not planning on reading the books. The only grades are 10 point quizzes on the books and two 12 page papers. If you speak up in class and show interest in the content she is more likely to grade your papers favorably. She is very sweet and cares about her students individually

She is not a fair grader. Very one sided. You MUST attend class every week and complete the novels. She NEVER responds to emails and she seems to be all over the place. Her views are very one sided and talked about politics a lot even tho this is a WOMENS LIT course. I found her views very annoying and should be left outside of the classroom.

I have had Jost for 235 and 341 so far and after a while, I love her! She is extremely intelligent and what she says, though hard to grasp at times, is totally legit. She knows her stuff and she is SO nice! like a grandma!

Jost is not a bad teacher. Class meets for around two and a half hours once a week. She keeps track of how much you have read with 10 point quizzes. You write a 10 page midterm and a 10 page final. Goes off on tangents. Nice teacher, however. Not a blow-off class.

Took this class as a J-Term. About 2 hours of reading each night. Ten point quizzes on the readings. Easy if you read the material. 2 ten plus page papers. Follow her guidelines and papers are pretty easy. She wants you to understand the readings. She truly cares for her students and is very nice. She sometimes gets off on tangents. Watch 3 movies.

10 pt quizzes each week on each novel, 2 10+ page papers but pretty easy class. Jost is a nice lady, but very weird. Don't take it if you don't like reading.

This class is super easy but not for those who desire any type of structure. Dr. Jost was always late and doesn't have any real connection to reality - she often spoke about how to properly participate in a riot but never used either textbook. Only real work are the papers and you actually learn how to be a better writer.

She's the craziest teacher I've ever had. She openly talks about being a socialist and how much she loves Canada. Most of the classes are spent arguing politics and not discussing how to write better argumentative papers. If you can stand listening to her babble, it's not that bad. I haven't seen anyone get worse than a B.

do not take unless you like A LOT of reading. one novel a week and a quiz every class. the entire course is based on two papers that are 14+ pages. she is a very spacey teacher who is all over the place, if you like to participate in discussions it isnt bad but she is very narrow minded on her views.

Took Dr. Jost for a graduate level class. Was completely interested in the subject matter until I took the class. VERY USELESS. We watched movies--which SHE SLEEP through the entire time! Graduate level class & we watched movies and took 10 pt quizzes! I will NEVER take her again--waste of money!

Do not take this class unless you're pretty sure you know how to write well! If you just happen to already know how to do this from high school like I do, you will get a VERY easy A. She doesn't teach you what good argumentative writing is, any tips or any techniques. Is random during lectures and is really a waste of time. Other than that, easy A.

This lady is CRAZY, but the class isn't boring, you are able to write about whatever you want, and if you do the work (to her liking) you will get a good grade. MUST go to class, but it isn't bad. She talks about her political views and pointless information the entire time, but it is a gen. ed. and an easy A.
