Worst prof I've had in a WHILE. Doesn't explain assignments in detail, no notes/lecture, only graded on online quizzes, one online final, and a group paper. You read the textbook, come to class, and he says absolutely nothing related to the topic - then puts you in your group to talk amongst yourself for the remaining time.

If you miss a class, even if you are at the hospital, he will take off points on your grade. Dont bother arguing with him, he does not allow late assignments even with a doctors note. He is a very sweet man, just terribly unclear with assignments. His instructions and grading rubrics are so unclear that you will never do it right. Luv the man tho

Prepare to spend 10-15 minutes at the beginning of every class listening to rambling about his over complicated syllabus/grading process. After that, he'll pull up the canvas discussion boards and answer questions posted by students in relation to the chapter for the rest of class. He doesn't come to class with a plan, he wings it every class.

The quizzes are easy and you can look up all the answers. However, he is a really bad teacher and doesn't care about you. He will call you out in the front of a class. Everytime you miss a class you lose a particpiation point, even if you have a doctor's note. His grading is terrible and will fail you even if you do the correct assignment.

This guy is ridiculous and so is his class. Every Friday you have an online quiz due based on the chapters in the textbook, which are not even briefly covered during his lectures. His grading technique is not transparent, and if you have a question about assignments get ready to ask 3 different ways before he gives you a straight answer.

Professor Chin is a very nice man, but very hard grader. Everything is online and there were weekly quizzes answering 25 questions and 25 minutes, and the final is 50 questions. There is occasional discussion boards in Canvas you have to do and one final paper talking about a sociological question. Class consisted of activities and games.

Professor Chin is a very nice guy but is an extremely hard grader. Do not even bother getting the textbook everything is online. Participation is also a large portion of your grade.

Participation is mandatory and keeps track by cards so I made sure to participate almost every class. Went to his office hours and he said he only marked me down for participating three times which effected my grade. The way he calculates the final grade is not the way he told us he would in the syllabus at the beginning of the semester.

He is my advisor and talked me out of a class that would have been extremely beneficial for me because he didn't want to fill out paperwork for me since I already met a requirement without taking the extra class. So essentially he talked me into taking the class I didn't need and taking away my opportunity with the new class because he was lazy

Such a great teacher! Very easy to talk to and very funny. All tests were online so they were easy to do because you got a lot of help. No midterm, final is also online

Class discussions have very little to do with online quizzes. Attendance is mandatory but doesn't help you learn more. He makes students feel uncomfortable and pushes the limits n comfortability. I would not take a class with him again. Unless you are willing to read the chapters on your own time this is a HARD class.

This is my second class with Dr. Chin and unfortunately I will have to take another. He is a nice guy, but not a great professor. The whole course is group project based. It is difficult to collaborate with 3+ people who all have several things going on outside of the class. He contradicts himself in his teaching and grading. Avoid his classes.

WORST professor at le moyne. This class should be online honestly. Chin barely talks during class because he makes all the students talk about pointless topics for an hour. He is a VERY tough grader on the final paper which he makes 40% of your grade. If you do take this class good luck getting an A.

Horrible. Online quizzes that cover topics not even touched on. You can put in a ton of effort and get nothing. It's mostly students talking and not him so you learn nothing. Do yourself a favor and don't take this class.

I had a great time in class, I was engaging with him and he was engaging back. The more you talk, the better the class is going to be. However, when it came time for quizzes, make sure you read the material beforehand. As well, when it comes to grading, it seems like he takes points off because it isn't what he thinks. I put time in and got nothing

Chin gives a chapter a week to read and take an online, open-book quiz on. Some times this seems like a lot. He does not give tests. One final and a paper aside from the reading and quiz. He's not very helpful. He says he'll help you with your paper and then say that you did not follow his directions. I had a love/hate relationship with him.

This class should just be an online class. All quizzes and even the final are online. He does not give much motivation to come to class. Take my advice and do not take Soc 101 with him. He is not clear at all about what he wants in his paper or any of his assignments. Grades extremely harshly and if you ask, he will not explain your grade.

This class is worthless. The final paper is hard and chin never grades fairly. He expects you to be on his level. He also tends to be sexist and rude towards women.

Mr. Chin isn't bad. He is a super friendly guy and is there for you if you need it. Emails almost get an instantaneous reply. There is a research paper but you go over it for the entire year. However he is a tough grader with some assignments that he provides and he uses lockdown browser for his weekly quizzes. I would take another class w/him

Chin's Soc 101 class was my favorite class I took this semester. Although all of his quizzes and even his final were take-home and open notes, my friends and I still found them kind of difficult. I thought Chin did a great job of keeping the class interesting and keeping students engaged, but some didn't think so. I'd def take this class again
