Professor Williams is an amazing person and for that he is an absolutely outstanding professor. He will shame you for not putting in effort. He is tough because he wants to see the world change, he believes in the power of young minds. Take advantage of his classes and open your mind to new things, it's completely worth more than getting an A.

Comment:

Johny teaches about American and its on going fight for equality. Because of this in his class he gives no privilege to background, or academic interest (except he does tend to like psych majors). He is best known for his perfect incorporation of his sociological knowledge into his personal conduct. I've never seen him angry or irrational.

It all comes down to participation in Professor Williams' class. If you don't participate, you will be left with a mediocre grade. I found this out the hard way, as I got A's and B's on most of the papers and assignments, but was left with a C- as my final grade because I rarely talked. Professor Williams also has a passionate dislike of Trinity.

He is an extremely unfair grader. He does not give adequate feedback at all. He is not helpful and does not write anything on a paper when you turn it in. I wrote good, solid papers, handed them in, and he turned them back with a grade and very few comments. I am a good student who usually does well, but no matter how hard you try, if he subjective

Either you love this guy or you hate him, and I fell solidly into the latter category before I dropped his class. It's very difficult to learn from someone with such a huge chip or their shoulder.

He will make you think and try to make you speak up and disagree with him. For that, he's a good professor. But his grading is very harsh for simple assignments. There are grades I received where I have no idea what I did wrong. And (as others have written already) he is not any help outside of class.

Comment:

Prof. Williams is very intense but his intensity is only backed by his strong passion for the material. Dont feed him any bs cause he wont take it. He opens your mind and stimulates you to explore new ideas, so much so that he inspired me to be a sociology major... and he's really smart - so smart that he probably knows who wrote this response ;)

Took this course last year. Class is interesting while not my favorite. Challenges students to think outside the box, which many perceive as troubling like the previous post. Take it if you want a laugh and are prepared to step back and examine your own beliefs. And as a white preppy male, he surely doesnt discriminate. I got a A-

This professor doesn't speak english correcly, his tenses are off and that bothers me a lot. He also doesn't like you if you are white and preppy. He will call on you and ask you why you are wearing that and how much it cost...very awkward. I would never take a class with this professor ever again.

This is my boy!!! Williams is a very challenging but caring professor. Loved his class, learned alot and will definitly take a course with him again. He makes you think...which is a good thing, for he prepares you for lifes journeys. Take any course with him, you will enjoy it.

Best teacher at Trinity. Better be prepared for class to he will eat you up. Fun, fun, fun, loves to debate, loves to push students into thinking for themselves. Don't dare raise your hand unless you know the answer. He opened my eyes to the realities of so much of the world. I will questions ever thing from now on.
