Comment:
I had no problem having Professor Naus for Basic Stats for Research. If the class didn't understand a concept, he wouldn't continue the lesson until it was completely understood. I had to read every chapter required in the textbook to pass the exams, but the exams themselves weren't tough if you did your fair share of studying.

Rude, disrespectful, gives horrible reviews (usually non existent). His power points are worthless and he puts things on the exam that were never gone over in class. He doesn't curve at all and I can almost guarantee I was top 25% in the class yet I got a C. If you absolutely have to take this class, go to every class, take awesome notes, go 2 tas

If you are a stat minor with a humanities major like Econ do not take this class. Try to find an alternate class. Unlike many other stat "professors" this man is a PI with a research lab. As a result, exams are math intensive requiring mastery in higher-level calculus and linear algebra. Do not take unless you received A's in Calc 1-3 and Lin Alg.

Naus is a top notch researcher (PI) with undergrads, grads, post-docs, and even some high school students in his research lab. With that being said his exams equilibrate to graduate level statistics with questions requiring proficiency in Calc 151, 152, 251 and Linear Algebra 250 possibly even Math 300 or 311. Maybe a post-doc wrote the exams.

I hated him. His exams are so confusing. Even going to class does not help. You would expect that being a math based class you would get partial credit but nope! Not at all. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, NOT WORTH IT! Also, he's very old.

Professor Naus is the worst teacher/professor I've ever had. His powerpoints are incredibly boring and end up being irrelevant to his exams. The textbook used in class does not correlate at all with with the tests so it's impossible to study for his exams efficiently. I really beg of any student to NOT take Intro to Stats for Business with Naus.

He's a nice man however he's a harsh grader. He does not give partial credit at all. I ended up doing somewhat well considering how poorly other people did but that's because of my statistics background in HS and even then, I didnt do well enough to get an.. The average on the tests were usually in the 50s . He also does not curve which stinks...

If you have never taken a statistics course before I do not recommend taking it with Naus. He is very intelligent man and does not explain topics in a simple manner so prepare to be thoroughly confused. If you want an A you really have to work (office hours/ tutoring). You will get extra credit if you attend class.

Needed the course to graduate.. got D. He gives zero partial credit. He uses different formulas and notation than the textbook, which is very unhelpful. Also attendance is a must. This is where I screwed up.. the attendance quizzes are 40% of your final grade.

I need to take this class for my major and pre-med requirement and it is the hardest class I have ever taken. I was always told that stats is an easy A but Dr. Naus makes it impossible. He's a VERY tough grader and does NOT give partial credit (I might actually fail this class). Exams cover things we did not go over in lecture.

The tests should not be tough but this guy does not know how to teach. He tries but his method does not work. I really urge you not to take this class with him. His lectures are boring and pointless but the way his exams are set it make it so the only way to get answers right are to answer it HIS way. So the textbook is useless. Horrible professor.

He means we'll really. And I find him super helpful in office hours. But it's hard to understand the lectures. Use the book, and try to find a better teacher. He really would be better if there were more office hours

he's a nice person and will answer questions. he does curve the class but the final exam was a ridiculous curveball out of left field. the class will seem much easier than it is and i can't explain why.

This professor should retire and make way to young ones with technological knowledge. He spend 2 days on something that is not in syllabus, taught the same lesson another two days, assigned the book that is not in print, for tests he takes off 10 point for each simple calulation mistakes in a course that uses heavy calculation using calculator.

This course was more difficult than it needed to be. Dr. Naus assigned homework that he never covered in class and the layout of the course was poor. The book is no longer being produced (for good reason: it's bad) yet he assigns hw from the book. Expect to spend considerable time each week to learn the material in addition to class time.

This is a Soviet teacher under the camoflage of an american. He is a HARSH grader and uses formulae and examples outside of the textbook. The guy sub-ed him was much better. I seriously don't know how I can lose 40 points for a simple arithmetic mistake on a mid-term. Should be banned from the society of Statistics.
