Comment:

She will help if needed a one on one, very communicative, and gives really good lectures that engages with the entire class. If absent let her know ahead of time to make-up for missed days. Flexible if having a hard time or have accommodations. Such a great personality, lets the class work in groups for speech projects.

Professor Bruno is very knowledgeable and friendly. You need to put effort in if you want to get an A. She offers some extra credit and will let you revise your speech outline for more points. My speaking abilities definitely improved with her help. I think the old reviews on here are not correct and Im glad I took her class.

Professor Bruno has been out of the teaching circle for quite some time. I can agree if you bond with her you will get good grades and she will be more lenient when grading speeches. Not a fan of her teaching styles and workshops, when instructors say they will include workshops it's usually them being lazy to fill in their teaching during class.

Bruno is nice but it's really hard to earn a good grade if you don't cater to her beliefs or interests. I watched students who's views didn't match hers give great speeches and get B's and C's and students who she bonded with who sucked get A's. Following her guidelines will only do so much...she's a nice person but a tough grader.

Julie was wonderful! She is totally helpful and always available to correspond through email. She is also very flexible with you as long as you communicate with her beforehand. The class always went by very fast and she is an overall awesome teacher.

Took interpersonal comm with Bruno because I needed to. Hated the subject. Pure common sense, except the terms make it confusing. Julie is an excellent teacher, though. She's extremely fair and helpful. I would love to take a class I'm actually interested in with her. She's not a pushover, but she's very nice.

I consider Julie being a great teacher, but she is really harsh on grading speeches and doesn't give extra credit. Take her at your own risk, the teacher isn't bad, but this class isn't for people who are full-time students.

Julie was a good teacher. I enjoyed this class even though i'm afraid of public speaking. There was five speeches and you chose the topic. And like four quizes about ten questions each. You'll learn to do better up front and you get great feedback from peers and her. If you have to take a communication class, i recommend her.

Julie is helpful and makes the class fun. She is very specific on structure/organization. Students will critique you, but they are learning. Learning what to avoid and what they can do better. At the end of the day, if you don’t meet Julie’s speech expectations, don’t complain about your grade.

She does not take attendance. However, it’s important to go to class because she explains and will prepare you for your next speech. Make sure you understand her expectations. If you fear public speaking and looking for a professor that will help you…take Julie. She has years of experience and has taught public speaking at SFSU.

This is not a laid back class. She has high expectations and will give you the grade you deserve. Julie is an awesome teacher. Public Speaking is my biggest fear. Julie provides guidance, support, and makes you feel comfortable. She truly makes the class fun. If you need help â€" just ask. She responds to emails promptly and encourages discussing any concerns during her office hours.

Very Nice teaacher! Makes class interesting. Doesnt take roll but lectures are important. Has powerpoints for all her lectures. Gives examples and makes everything understandable. Speeches are main focus of class, has quizzes from book, I never opened the book but got B's on all quizzes. Take this class and you will have fun.

I kind of liked this class and I hate public speaking. She's a tough grader and is very specific about what she wants and when she wants it, not much leniency. But overall the class isn't that difficult and she gives PLENTY of time for everything to get done. Good teacher.
