Wished i had looked up the rating and reviews on this professor first, because all i am left with is regret after taking this class, if i knew how ridiculously hard the tests would be in this class i would have never taken it.

He explains topics in examples and rarely explains the concepts applicable to such topics. He is extremely reliant upon the book so much so that it's almost not worth going to the lectures except for attendance and turning in/retrieving homework. There is a total of 3 tests besides the final and he grades fairly strictly.

This class is so difficult. This professor explains things ONLY in examples and most times with calc that's not enough. I really enjoy math, but this class is really making me hate it. He also assigns a solid amount of turn in homework weekly.

Absolutely nothing went well in his class. He was rude, contradictory, and consistently wrong during lectures, and I dreaded his class every morning. His syllabus didn't so much include his name, let alone office hours, and god help you if you asked him when and where those hours were. I'd rather skip a semester then try his class again.

Second time I've had Bolli, and I enjoy his lecture style and personality. Great sense of humor that is very dry and witty. His tests however are not overly difficult but there's a curve ball on every single one that makes them harder than the other professors exams except Berkopec. Difficulty is in the subject not a result of the professor.

I would go out of my way to avoid having to take this professor again. He is terrible at answering questions and is quite rude to students. He won't let you use your laptop in class despite the textbook for the class being an e-book. This is especially problematic because he isn't good at explaining the material and the lecture is dry and boring.

He was an alright teacher but he is an awful person. Doesn't care about students at all. He would mark you absent if you were literally one minute late. He's a hard grader -- and this is coming from someone who took AP Calc AB and BC in high school (equivalent to calc 1 and 2) and passed the AP calc 1 test with a 4.

I honestly feared this man. He was rude to many students including myself. He would often call people out/embarrass them. He also made my signing up for summer classes very hard and held up my entire registration. Overall, he knows the material & can teach it but he is not approachable at all. If I needed help Id teach myself or see someone else.

I would personally avoid him at all costs, if given the chance. While taking his class isn't the worst thing you can do, it is certainly tedious. He is a heavy grader, is unclear during lectures, and is unapproachable. He is sometimes disrespectful to students and gets off track. You MUST attend every class if you wish to pass.

He is very strict on how limit notation works (will be on your first two exams). Hard questions on the exam will 100% either be from HW, Review, in notes, or example in the book. The rest of the questions will be much simpler and should be easy points. If you pay attention to his "hell no"'s you'll be prepared for notation and should do fine.

I has Bolli for Calc 1 and am currently taking him for Calc 2. He expects you to know your basic algebra and trigonometry. He is very clear about what we are studying in class and ties it back to the text book so that students can study on their own. He does not put up with any B.S., will tell you when you are wrong, and is fair when grading. 10/10

Do not take this professor. He doesnt care about his students and will take off points for ridiculous reasons such as notation differences. Even if there is a mistake in just your work (such as accidentally writing sin instead of sin(x)) he will give you a 0 regardless of whether you got the right answer.

Jurg Bolli grades too hard and makes problems unnecessarily difficult by adding in trig/advanced algebra in order to do the actual calculus, he forces students to answer to him in a weird questioning lecture format, makes far too many political remarks that he thinks are funny, will drop you after 4 absences regardless of situation/time in semester

If you can get out of taking any class from him, do it. He is not hard in the sense that if you work and try hard that you can do well but that you will lose points on anything for anything. If you have no other choice, then beware that you need to stay on top of everything. Be sure you know notation very well and that you know your calculus well.
