Honestly don't take this class by this professor because he will tell you that you aren't right for the class and that you should have taken the class below. A professor shouldn't say something rude like that, especially to a student who has been trying their best to learn French and major in French.

He makes you feel down about yourself, especially when you aren't understanding the material. He will tell you that you aren't fit for a high level class and should have taken the lower level class first. He may help you, but he expects too much from you. If you had expectations that a French class will be great, then you better change your mind.

I couldn't have had a more enthusiastic, encouraging and awesome French 101 experience. He does push the students a little bit, but like everyone else is saying IT ALL PAYS OFF. It helped to have some prior Spanish education, but either way he makes sure his students do as best as they can. Be prepared for an awesome class.

Laurent is a good prof but he expects a lot of analyzing in your papers. Papers always have to be at least 3 pages long which can get to be difficult in french. A LOT of reading.
