I can not say enough good things about Dr. Montgomery. She teaches literature as it should be taught, and I am a better reader, writer, and person for having studied under her. Some will be frustrated with her classes for a variety of unimportant reasons, but anyone who is willing to learn from her as she is will wish more teachers were like her.

She is the cutest. She reminds me of my grandma. She loves grammar and literature, thankfully, because that is what she TEACHES! If you don't like those, don't expect to like any class in the subject. Very clear with study materials. You know exactly what to study. Those of you who hate her should not be taking upper-level English! Love her!

Comment:

Ok, so she's older than Methuselah and VERY soft-spoken. But Dr. Montgomery is an outstanding teacher who knows her material inside and out. A word of caution, though: you MUST be interested in the material and have a good study ethic to get an A, which is a 92.5% in her classes. Do not miss more than a few days of lecture or you will be screwed.

Comment:

This woman touched my life in a way I never thought possible by a professor. If you do not love literature, I highly recommend you look elsewhere. She has a true passion for the written word and genuinely cares for her students. Quiet-mannered but very approachable if you will only reach out to her. For reference, I took her Engl Lit 1700-1900.

Comment:

She was the most wonderful teacher. She truly loves literature. Students interested in this area (i.e. English majors) will fall for her at once. She is the tidiest, most prim professor I have ever had and she has such a lyrical, enchanting way of analyzing the works in the curriculum. Non-poetry lovers should look elsewhere.

Mrs. Montgomery is one of the best teachers that I have ever had. It is clear that she is very interested in her subject matter and explains all of the poetry effectively. Just make sure that you read the assignments, take good notes, and read the author biographies. Also, she provides the most helpful studygudes.

Dr. Montgomery knows her stuff! She is precious and cute as a button! Underline the passages that she quotes in class and anything that she says is a famous line. Memorize these and use flashcards to memorize who wrote what and what their famous lines were. Also memorize the facts about the authors' lives. It's hard work, but an A is possible!

Very intelligent and clear in her explanations. I've taken two of her courses, and while her delivery may not be very entertaining, her level of knowledge and helpfulness more than make up for any pedagogical titlation.

OMG. I cant read her writing on my papers, and I have no clue what she wanted in her questions. I feel like I answered her questions fully, but apparently I didnt. I took her class correspondence... MAJOR MISTAKE. I have a 3.8 gpa with over 100 hours completed but yet, I never managed to make over a C-- (isnt that a D??) on ANY assignment!

dr. montgomery is a sweet little lady. her teaching methods could be updated. i believe that she prefers to focus more on the small details of the stories that add imagery than always looking at the big picture all of the time. her class is good for english majors, and you should already be familiar with her from advising.

BORING!! Great authors (Tennyson & Browning)--boring professor. She has to be like 80 years old...and I don't think she's ever adapted her teaching with time. She lectures for 90 minutes with the occassional surface level question that you don't want to waste your breath answering.

Holy cow RETIRE ALREADY! When you reach the century mark you should think about collecting your SS check, not buying more red pens. Sit up front, b/c her voice won't carry past the third row. And try not to sigh as the class waits in silence for the answer to an obvious question. Boring. Inaccurate.

Her discussions are excruciating! She encourages her students to spend the whole class making overly precious, pretentious observations that are usually extremely obvious or meaningless. She's not open-minded while grading, and goes through each quiz with a red pen marking every tiny grammar error.

British Short Story- Great class, variety of styles and authors, and Dr. Montgomery is a sweet old lady who looks like a pixie. Not difficult if you enjoy the reading.
