Comment:

She is a great teacher overall! She always asks if you have questions and gives time to ask them. You can get 10 points participation points in the class each day. She tells you it is okay if you miss two classes per semester and will not impact you much. Overall, the class was a great experience and I learned a lot.

Comment:

Fantastic professor, and definitely the best in the French department. She was very understanding of her students and really cared how well each and every one of her students did in all their classes, not just hers. I wouldn't say she's an easy grader, but she realizes each students potential and pushes you towards it.

Comment:

Maria is a great French prof; witty and inherently "belle". The first day of my 400 class I was ready to quit. However, immersing us in the language helped. Eventually, everyone was embarrassed because she made us participate. The good news is that she is very forgiving with the written assignments which helps. "Ecoutez bien" and you will be okay.

First day of class will scare you. She is very intimidating, but very easy. I wouldn't say she means to embarrass you in class, i think she just wants you to learn! I'm not good at French and I passed with a B. She is a VERY easy grader and allows you make up everything you miss. just don't miss class!! I definitely recommend her :)

brutal for sure. rarely uses english, even when explaining HOW to speak french. Beware if you are poor with french or have had little experience. Course is quick and detailed. She seems to expect you to know it before even coming to class and WILL embarrass you and call you out if you don't know it. Not uncommon to be yelled at like back in HS

Let's be honest, a lot of majors have language req. Some of us just want to get through them with all our fingers. If you suck at french, this class can be brutal, particularly at 8am. No passes here. Work at it, or she'll make you look like an idiot. Genuinely the best French Prof though. You will learn, she'll make you. Pro tip: Dress well.

This class is easy as long as you have had some amount of French experience before. Intermediate French I is the perfect level to start with in your first couple years of college/just out of high school. The only complaint I have is she made us announce our grades on a popquiz outloud in class to embarrass us, and it was upsetting for many.

She is a great French Prof. She is extremely intelligent and speaks french as though it were her original language (it's not she's polish). Her class is harder than some but her teaching style allows you to really get a better understanding of the french language.
