This is one of the best classes I have ever taken. Intro to phonetics is key and I feel like I have a great foundation because of this class. The material is not easy but there should be NO REASON to not get an A if you put in the work. She held study sessions and does everything to help you succeed. She responds to emails quickly.

Took the 8 week course with Morris and had a great time...4 speeches, a quiz each week and overall a lot of fun. The book is required as the quiz questions come straight from the their. She only makes you take the final IF your grade is low, and she drops the lowest quiz grade so she's pretty awesome!

Comment:

Phonetics is a difficult subject to teach and learn. Prof. Morris is very available for help, but you have to make sure you let her know if you are struggling. Her tests are hard, but she grades fairly. She drops your lowest test score and ended up giving our class extra credit. If you work hard, you should do fairly well.

Prof. Morris is super nice. She make you work for your grade but you actually learn something. Imagine that concept. If you need any help she is always down to help you out. just put in a little effort and don't be a kook and you will get the grade you want.

I'm not quite sure how people can think her class is difficult... She is a great professor and is very helpful. She cares about her students and she is a fun lady to talk to. You should just go to class, sit in the front, and talk to her and pay attention because there are NO SURPRISES. Her class is simple and you should definitely take her class

I took Professor Morris in 2005, I just graduated with my Masters degree. Looking back I laugh at the folks that whine about "not being told EXACTLY" what will be on a test. REAL WORLD=Be prepared. At CSUF you will be resp for knowing all and there are NO "heads up" on the test,its assumed u know!

Her tests where hard. They were T/F, short answers, and essay. She usually gave out a study guide for her tests. I highly recommend you do them if you don't want to struggle. Her powerpoints are kind of helpful, but remember to look through the book before the exam.

8-week class. She's a nice teacher, but confusing sometimes. Forget things, and we have to remind her. Needs more organization. Speeches aren't that hard, except for the memorizing one. They do get harder. Tests are only T/F, which is easy, but questions can be confusing. Some people had to cram 3 speeches at the end..so don't fall behind.

Phonetics. Really liked this Prof. at first, but she is a ridiculous teacher. She is very tricky with the tests. She goes over what will be on tests then changes w/out notice & adds other material. The extensive T/F sections are very sneaky and confusing to even the best student. She isn't teaching the most common field usage either. Frustrating!

Dont recommend her. Ive heard of better speech teachers at SAC. Hard teacher for a class that should be easier. Hardly any A's were given on speeches. Her grading is picky. She also picks on people very unprofessional.
