Dr. Lopez is a wonderful professor, challenging yes, but a great professor. There were multiple reading assignments every week, and it is necessary to read them before class. There were two essays and the final exam. She does give extra credit opportunities. If you want to take a challenging but rewarding course, I would recommend taking Lopez.

Dr. Lopez is amazing. Brilliant, her lectures are enlightening, entertaining. You must do all readings prior to class, and I recommend reading reviews of readings if you havent grasped the intent of them. Several précis, and Dr. Lopez is interested in making you a more focused writer. I loved this course, but not the historical era.

She's an absolutely amazing professor. She is intense, but knows what she's doing. If you don't do the reading you won't survive the quizzes or in class discussions and papers. Attendance is mandatory. Miss 3 classes and she will fail you. She will be there for you every step of the way and is there to help guide you, but this class is hard.

This was a challenging history course. Lots of reading; and lots of prep time for 12 online timed quizzes--that are very hard. This professor is one of the best and most well prepared in the CSUF system. She will make you work for your grade. She's the most helpful as well. Always got back on email, and offered office support for feedback. Amazing!

She is the best professor that I have ever had. She helped me out so much in both theses classes. She may not be easy but she is willing to bend over backwards for her students for the ones that are willing to ask for help. She becomes easy once you have had her a few times and can understand her methods

LOVED Lopez! Incredibly knowledgeable and down to earth, but has high academic expectations. Reading book is critical. Online quizes were hard unless you did the full reading. Very organized and structured. We got to read a novel set in ancient China and analyze it in context for the final, so very creative. Got to read lots of primary sources.

One of the greatest Professor I've had at State! She is extremely knowledgeable and is so passionate. She is willing to help and makes the topic so interesting. You will learn something everyday from the class. It isn't a very hard class but it does required a lot of effort. There are NO EXAMS only two essays and in class assignments. Recommend!!!!

She is very passionate about History. At the beginning of the semester I thought I was going to fail for sure, but you get the hang of it, there are weekly online quizzes, attendance is a must, and three essays, but no final. She also has discussions in lecture and you have to answer two questions, they're worth 20 points.Overall a good class.

Hardest class you'll ever take. But, if you spend time in her office hours, you will definitely do well. Asking questions is a MUST. TONS of reading. But, as a History major, you should probably get used to that anyway, right? If you miss more than 3 classes, you will lose 25 pts each time. So be there! She does not bend on ANYTHING. Marshal Law.

Hardest class I ever took. I remember more from this class than any other and I withdrew because I didn't think I was cut out for it. What I wouldn't give for a chance to try again with more college experience under my belt! Dr. Lopes is spicy, exciting and inspiring. Just watch out for that red pen.

DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!! This class is ridiculous if you are taking it over the summer. She has crazy deadlines and tests on the weekends and is not very flexible at all! She treats this class as if we are all history majors. When I had questions she wasn't very helpful at all. I am an A student and am trying really hard not to fail this class

I love this class! Lopez is full of information and has interesting lectures. She is very straight-forward and grades fairly. There are almost weekly quizzes that are based strictly off the text. It's a lil work, but I feel like I have learned so much! I would recommend this class to anyone who's not afraid of a challenge! Great history Prof! :)

Dr. Lopez is one of the most knowledgable professors i've ever had. She has very high standards for her students however, anyone taking her class is most likely a senior and those expectations make sense. The tests are all written and her grading is hard but by the end, you're going to be a better student guaranteed!

She is very knowledgeable about her subject but she teaches her class as if we were in upper division and all history majors. She started the first class saying she has a 40% fail rate and is okay with that. I am a straight A student, I did the readings and took note but dropped because I was averaging a C.

Dr. Lopez is the most intellectually challenging professor in the history department. She will expect the best from her students and is always willing to give help outside of class. As for favoritism no matter how close she may be to the student, the student will receive the grade that they worked for: I got a B, and I went to the pub quizzes.

an ok professor who clearly had her favorites in class. there was this one student who constantly opened her mouth without raising her damn hand, interrupting Dr. Lopez and the flow of lectures and Dr. Lopez never told her to shut the **** up! Dr. Lopez has a great sense of humor but can be to repetitive and a bit silly.

She is an different type of professor. She is very fair in terms of the assignments given. Attendance is mandatory in her class. Only downside is that it was clear that she had her favorites. its hard for me to picture her strictly grading the assignments of students who laugh with her and go to the stupid pub quizzes. She played favorites.

Very knowledgeable instructor. She's not like anybody else, it takes time to adjust to her sense of humor if you don't then she could be seen as offensive and rude. I don't see her that way but I understand how others might. She is difficult, but only because she makes you work. you will not ease through her class guaranteed
