His class was very fun, but not easy. A little on the difficult side for a 300 level, but not bad. He is very passionate about the subject matter. Definitely has a political leaning, so be aware of that going in.

Comment:

He teaches passionately, and has occasional yelling spats that are HILARIOUS and entertaining. His lectures are a journey that everyone should experience at least once. His political views really become clear in lecture 2. He IS left leaning, but NOT a radical leftist. Tries to see the facts. Discussions aren't as OPEN ENDED as i would have liked.

Dr Peterson is very hard professor but stick with it and you can do it. If ever confused email him and visit during office hours and he will give you better grades based on your effort. Overall very tough class but if you do the readings and try hard possible to get an A!

He only gives out tests and one big homework assignment. Make sure you go to class and pay attention! His tests are the are toughest I've ever seen. Goodluck

Dr. Peterson is very intelligent and passionate about what he does. You do have to work for your grade in his class, but in the end you will definitely learn something. He keeps the lectures interesting and easy to understand. You definitely need to go to class, and take good notes. All the test are multiple choice with 20-25 questions.

I was a foreign exchange student and I loved this class: interesting, participative. You won't get bored in Peterson's class. Plus he knows what he's talking about (even when talking about other countries) If you are looking for an easy A, go away: every weeks you will have 20-50 pages to read and essay questions on it on the following week.

Tough class but I LOVED it. The purpose isn't to sway you one political direction or another but rather to challenge you to do your research, understand the facts, and form your own opinions. He really wants students to become informed citizens rather than mindless voters fed ideals through a television. FANTASTIC LECTURES!

I loved his class. His writing to learn classes are almost entirely writing-based and you have to read and earn your grade but with effort I think anyone can pass. His lectures are exciting and engaging. He is the best professor I've had at Pitt so far.

This professor is crazy. Random rants. Very biased professor! If you are a democrat you would enjoys class but being a republican is awful. Everything is liberal! Very opinionated! Super long lectures!

Dr. Peterson gives students the chance to think critically in this course, while some of the readings are boring he still finds a way to make the course exciting. Trust me his classes are never boring and at times you will be on the edge of your seat. For those of you have never seen him, he has amazing hair for a middle-aged man.

He expects a lot of his students, and his grading on daily quizzes and exams shows it. If you love the kind of professor that at any moment could start yelling, stopping around the room, and banging on walls to make his point, take his class! It is a one of a kind experience.

Dr. Petersons intro to political science class is the most biased class I have ever taken. He constantly bags on conservatives, even to infer that they are poor Christians. Intelligent man but extremely liberal and difficult to bear.

Dr. Peterson is a great guy! Somehow he made a three hour night class actually interesting and entertaining. He will however make you work for your grade and at some points its not easy. Will take courses from him again in the future!

This guy will change how you see lectures, he makes them wonderfully engaging, while slowly covering all the topics. Will state his opinions very loudly. Slanted Democrat but makes a small effort to mention the atrocities of the Republican party. But all and all my best teacher at PSU and inspired me to further my education. Give his course a try.

this guys test was like 30 questions long 10 of which were supposed to be picked up in the class discussion, 10 out of the book, and 10 out of 130 page hand out. it was unreasonabley hard

Dr. Peterson is... well... LOUD! He will start yelling in the middle of his lectures and be back to a normal tone of voice in 15 or 20 seconds--just hang in there. Is he a good guy who will help you if you have a problem? Absolutely. Does he stay politically objective in his assessments? No. His lectures tend to have a Democratic slant.

He will definately get your attention. Somewhat biased in his political views, but I was lucky enough to have his pols class during the pres election and he made it very interesting. Likes to yell alot in his lectures, hillarious. Take his pols classes if your a democrat, it better that way.

I have had Dr. Peterson for various courses and absolutely love him! I found him a bit intimidating at first only because he is SO passionate about his lectures. I now realize I have learned more from his "tangents" than any other class ever could have taught me. I think everyone should be required to spend a semester with Dr. Peterson!
