I came from high school with very little calculus. I took 105-106 with him then spent extra time outside class mastering calc and finite algebra, etc with him - 412 was tough but I let him teach me to master it. I plan to get a PhD in theoretical physics. Yes, very elderly man - true genius - but rather than mock his age - I allowed him to teach

Lecture was very boring and most of the time I was lost. But the class is mostly calculus, so if you have taken Calc 1, you don't necessarily how he solves the problems. Exams were extremely easy, he gives them to you a few weeks in advance to study. I accumulated enough bonus points by doing extra problems on tests and didnt have to take the final

His class covers some difficult material but it is easy to get a good grade. He gives you the study guide way ahead of time that is just like the test and he is very willing to help you if you have any questions. I would recommend him

I didn't feel like I had the mathematical background to truly understand the material. Dr.Dixon goes painfully step by step through algebra but often breezes over difficult mathematical concepts such as tensors. He rarely explains the physical concepts and if he does it is done poorly. The upside is few homework assignments and no tests...

He gives you all the questions on the test 2wks b4. Which means you do not have to pay attention at all in class, just come. Make friends & go problems 2gether. If you get enough bonus first 2 tests, you can blow off the last one & the final. Don't expect to understand him during class AT ALL. Knowing basic calc or advanced algebra is VERY helpful.

The class is INSANELY difficult to the point where words can't even express, especially since like no one in the class grasps the stuff (even at a prestigious place like Butler University!!). Not a single person paid attention because it's so easy to cheat on his tests that it's actually sad. I felt bad for the guy at times because he loves the material and likes to teach, but he is 134 years old and just can't do it anymore. Really interesting and smart guy though. Talking to him after class is much better than the actual lecture.
