Dr. Mills has funny lectures and plays goofy videos to give examples of the topics he's teaching about. The class isn't bs though, I actually learned things. If you're looking for a no nonsense Psych class where you learn A LOT of info, this might not be it. If you're looking for a fun psych class where you learn a decent amount, this is it

DO NOT TAKE! Impossible to do well in this class because he gives weekly quizzes on material not covered in class whatsoever. Lectures are absolutely pointless and not related to the material at all. He should NOT be teaching general psych. Not a lot of work at all, but you will not be getting an A even if you pay attention and do the readings.

So none of the curriculum taught in class or on the readings was actually on the tests. The tests were riddled with grammatical errors and were often difficult to decipher, not to mention test questions were totally random and didnt involve the topics discussed or read through. Avoid at all costs.

Loved this class so much that it made me want to pursue evolutionary psych as a research interest. Lectures are very entertaining and the topics really make you think differently. Online midterms are not difficult if you do the readings. Total test time equals one minute per question, but you can spend longer or shorter than that on each item.

Prof Mills as a person is super nice and funny, but he is honestly a terrible teacher. He barely taught us anything, and the midterms (pro: they're online) were extremely confusing and difficult, and rarely tested anything that we actually discussed in class. I did all of the readings and still though the tests were virtually impossible... yikes

If you take this class you need to take it with a friend! Tests are online/takehome and supposed to be done alone, but the only way you'll pass is if you do them together. Knowing someone who took his class before is great because he reuses all the same material/tests . Material is SUPER interesting and he's funny/weird. Easy to cheat if you wantto

I would definitely not recommend this professor. It's simultaneously too much lecture, yet not enough actual discussion of test content. His tests are online, open book etc, but you get ONE MINUTE per question, they're worded bizarrely, and he fails to cover half of the content. He's honestly a nice guy but a really ineffective professor.

One of the best professors I've ever had. If you're a disciplined student, you will learn a lot. He doesn't treat students like little kids - he provides lots of reading material and leaves it to your discretion mostly to read it all. Took him again because he was so engaging and truly made me think (and laugh).

Dr. Mills clearly explains the material, answers questions, and is very approachable during office hours. Lectures are entertaining both for the information and jokes provided. He allows the evidence to speak for itself, while supporting diversity of thought in the college community by welcoming differing opinions. I highly recommend this class!

Tests do not reflect points covered in lecture. Tests are weirdly worded and it is sometimes hard to understand the answer he is looking for. He can also be very unclear when you ask him questions and he is very disorganized. He wasn't a terrible professor but I felt that the class was more difficult than I expected and was told by others.

One of my favorite professors at LMU!! His class was not even required by my major, but I took psychology and sex differences with him and he was so much fun and truly motivated me to want to participate. He is so great, always willing to help, and cares about concerns you may have. He is also super understanding. More professors need to be likehim

I took Psychology of Sex Differences online with Dr. Mills this summer, and it was honestly one of the best decisions I've ever made. He's always willing to help, responds to e-mails very quickly, and his lectures are very clear and easy to follow. I love that he uses the textbook he wrote online. Knows how to pick out interesting videos too! :)

Easiest class you will ever take. Does not know any of his students names. Doesn't seem like he cares to teach the subject matter. The subject matter is interesting though. I would take the class again because it is the easiest class I have ever taken.

Most amazing, impactful prof I have ever had the luck/joy/pleasure of taking! Yes, midterms/quizzes are tough, but I honestly learned more in his class than any other (and I've been at mult. schools!). I too refused to sell back my books! Very helpful and brilliant, his office hours are a joy! He's funny, witty and just wonderful to learn from!

I am not a psyc major but the class was superb. Genuinely interesting, good teacher who knows his stuff, hilarious at times. I refused to sell back my text book at the end because I found it so good. I recommend the class to anyone whose ever thought psychology is someone interesting. Excellent class and teacher.

I got an A- in the class. During class he lectures with a powerpoint and interesting video clips. His midterms are tough but they are all online so that's cool. There are frequent quizzes which are based on the reading. His lectures do not always match up with the textbook.

I took Dr. Mills for Sex Differences and Evolutionary Psych. He has a great wry sense of humor and a lot of heart. He is very approachable and wants his students to succeed! You have to put in the work, but he makes subjects fun and he is one of my all time favorite professors. GREAT MAN!!

i would definitely recommend this teacher!!! he knows what he is talking about and is helpful when you have questions. boring classes though and a lot of reading. the majority of the info on the exams and quizes come straight from the text. you can sleep in class and just review the power points after but you'll miss some interesting video clips.

Great class! Interesting topic, smart teacher. One thing, though: he's kind of lazy - has students grade exams in class, students present PP presentations - takes too much time. Websites he provides are amazing, though. Overall, good teacher. I would definitely recommend the class to anyone who is interested in more challenging psych topics.
