She is a very smart and intellectual lady but she sucks as a professor. She lectures all class and expects you to participate. She has many assignments and they require a lot of work! Tough grader, she is not clear at what she wants and expects you to read her mind. Do not take her class!

honestly, she's a nice woman but a TERRIBLE professor. Don't think that you can miss class or not talk in class.. she calls on you and embaresses you constantly and she's no help outside of the classroom either. tests were hard, exams were long and hard, overall tough grader not a dun class at all!

Dr. Benson's class is easy enough as long as you look over the assigned readings and complete the two assigned papers, two worksheets, and a few other mini assignments. She will like you if you offer a couple ideas during class, but she does not enjoy students who raise their hands for every question. Gets papers back VERY late; not very helpful.

She's a fairly hard grader. She also has a tendancy to encourage people to talk but get tired and upset with them for talking when they do. That said, shes also extremely knowledgeable about her subject. If you can manage to stay awake in her class and just participate chances are you'll learn a lot and get a decent grade while at it.

Tough class. Expect pop quizzes. She makes sure that everyone talks in every class, so you have to always do the reading and be prepared to talk. She is a bit out of touch with most students, and acts disappointed that everyone is not as passionate about the subject as she is. But she is fair and she makes you work for your grade.

benson is tough--but if she likes you and thinks you are serious about english--she'll work with you. She knows alot about the class she's teaching and if you can work hard and keep up with the readings she'll guide you through anything! loved her! i would deffinately recommend taking her class!

Sweet person, boring as a professor. Inconsistent paper grader, assigned lots of busy work. Allows students to re-write papers, but keeps re-write grades rather low. Tests are on the easier side.

If you want to learn how to write a paper well enough to to get A's in 300-level English classes, Benson's the way to go. She makes herself available to students who are willing to work & learn and rewards you accordingly-- problem is, if you're not making an effort, she's really good at recognizing it. Great teacher, but a very tough one.

Pamela Benson is at the top of my WORST professors list. DO not take this woman! She is extremely rude when she gives you feedback on your papers.Never emails you when you need her to. Very rude and thinks that her you know what don't stink. Wants you to think her way. Horrible experience, a definite NOT TAKE!

Extremely knowledgeable. She is very difficult to win over with theory heavy papers, but is open to discussion. She is readily available and very helpful with out of classroom discussions on papers. Always an overabundance of handouts, to give you as much info about the subject as possible.
