DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! He is honestly a very smart guy but he does not know how to teach. Half our class dropped and a some of us are failing. I'm putting in double the amount or more of work I do and barely passing. Grades are based on 4 tests, one dropped and he only looks at your final answer for the test, unheard of in math!

He understands the material he's teaching and will answer any of your questions but he expects a lot from you. Only take his class if you have experience with fast paced classes and teaching yourself class material. His grading is based on 4 exams and he drops 1. Also, make sure to be there on time.

Ive had Lannen for 3 courses & would continue to if he was teaching calculus next semester. Hes old school. Show up on time. DO HOMEWORK. Pay attention hes a genius if you listen. I suggest him for students proficient in math. He moves quickly & youre expected to know everything up until that point - from previous classes as well. As you should

I received a B in this class, yet be warned. This was the absolute worst class I have ever taken. He grades ONLY on answers, unheard of for a math course! (Especially calculus). Lazy way of grading. Rants frequently and wastes time by harassing every student who walks in late. Assigns every problem in the book for hw and grade is based on 3 exams.

Only take Lannen if you are very proficient at math, and are capable of learning new material at a very quick pace. All exams are almost directly written from practice exams/hw problems, however absolutely no partial credit is given on tests. He will not even collect your work, only your final answers. Very old school professor, but a decent guy.

Do the HW if you want to pass. Only grades are the exams. Goes very fast during lectures, but will go over and answer questions if you ask. Only grades are from the exams. Practice exams are almost identical to the exams, sometimes they were identical, so do the practice exams over and over! Pay attention when he says *HINT* During lectures.

Hes tough and not someone you want to take if math is not your speciality. HW is basically ALL practice problems in the textbook. If you can do the HW (and you should!) then the study guides will be easy. Study guides are useful for exams but only if you can ace the HW! He grades on EXAMS ONLY. No points for anything else. Put your time into HW!

I'm not sure why everyone is being so harsh. Professor Lannen is not super friendly and a little condescending, but his exams are pretty easy. He basically tells you the exact problems that will be on the exams so if you study, it's easy. I got almost 100 on every test. If you get an A on all the exams, he doesn't make you take the final.

Lannen is decent teacher, his grading criteria is clear. That being said his class will take a lot of your time, if you're not ready to work don't take him. Make sure that you sit in front and talk to him often, he will be more inclined to help this way

You can beat his class if you are willing to sacrifice a decent amount of your time to do so. I was unwilling to put in that much time into the class for 3 credits it simply wasn't worth it to me. This is not a class where you learn in class You MUST go through the book and study off the study guide he gives for tests.

I like this professor, he teaches fast, but if go to his class and do the homework, pay attention to the hint and do the practice problem, you will pass, so easy. I almost got all 100 in the tests. But you must study hard.

he is a very tough and no bs teacher. this helped to eliminate students who thought they didn't need to do hw and study. i actually respect him because he set the precedent to do the work. I'm going towards engineering and really wanted to learn the material. i got an a because i put in the time. 8 took the final cause they were serious about class

If you are not good in math , do NOT take his class! He doesn't teach well, goes very quick in his lectures and tests are very hard. I had to withdraw because he literally didn't care for his students. At the beginning of the semester we were like 30 in the class, at last there were like 8.

Hint! Engineers this class is for you, not for people who hate math or did terrible in math 46. If you study, do your homework, and listen to the lectures you will Ace the class and feel confident for the next math course. This professor will set you up for success if you do your part; really cut and dry like college should be.

Prof. Lannen yells a lot, makes loud noises, and he is a generally angry and feisty professor. BUT he is SURPRISINGLY EASY. As long as you do the homework you'll be fine, BUT YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY DO IT. He will explain if needed; just ask. Goes over homework and practice tests, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT!!! Aced his course with flying colors. Good luck

STOP. Do not take this class. No teaching or explanation is done and you're left More confused at the end than at the begnining. You won't have your questions answered when you ask either. He expects more than can be and being able to do problems from the book are a walk in the park and not helpful for the test. Hrs out of class will be needed.

This class was utterly awful. The lectures moved too quick & allowed little to no time to master the concepts. The professor was very sarcastic and had the tendency of ridiculing students which did not allow students to feel comfortable enough to ask questions. He was not at all lenient with grading. Those who struggle with math.. avoid this class.

I had a terrible math teacher for Math 121 but with hard work and lots of tutoring, I did well. I thought there was no way my teacher for Calc 2 could be worse, I was wrong. He may be the worst math teacher at Mesa College.

How to pass: Go to class. Do homework. Study practice exams. Be a boss, not a baby. He gives homework and doesn't collect. DO IT! He gives practice exams that directly reflect the tests. DO THEM! Beginning of each class asks for questions on homework. ASK QUESTIONS! For anyone even slightly motivated, he is not hard. So don't be afraid to take him.
