Fantastic professor who cares about his students' learning and understanding. His tests are difficult and meant to stretch your understanding (if you don't have the basics down cold, you will really struggle,) but they're graded fairly. He's heavy on partial credit, so if you make a small algebra mistake, you aren't completely screwed.

This is an extremely hard class! You better give this class your all if you intend to pass with a C. Out of the 80 students in with me, by the end of the semester, the class average was 70, Your math games got to be on point as you do lots of equation manipulation. Don't load up on courses because this class will take a lot of your time to pass...

Grading of exams is inconsistent since he doesn't grade the exams himself. It's hard to know what points are rewarded/taken away for. Test problems compared to in-class problems make no sense and there isn't enough time given to carefully carry out the problems.

It's tough to know what will be on his exams, which are tough, given the material. You're expected to figure out everything from outside resources--this makes it super easy to miss key concepts. The class itself is expected to go at an alarming rate. Tell Paul to slow down, seek out tutoring, READ (more than once), update your crib sheet often!

If you find his class difficult, it's because the material is challenging; he is fair, passionate and cares about his students.

Paul is an excellent professor. He loves to teach and is thorough, going through the derivations of equations to help explain the concepts. He reviews problems routinely to help understand the material. His exams are tough and they throw you off.

To do well in this course you have two options: 1) be naturally brilliant, or 2) work really hard. Unfortunately, I could only use option 2, but it worked!Dr. Nakroshis is passionate about physics and loves teaching; and if he does make the course harder than another teacher would - that's even better. There is nothing wrong with being challenged!

Comment:
The book is especially bad, so you can't rely on it. It leaves out important information needed to figure out how to apply the "strategies" the book gives you, especially in the torque section of physics 121. Nakroshis focuses on strategy too, doing mostly math problems, too fast. I need to know more about why the math works.

Paul is an awesome instructor. He actually takes the time to help you with the material if you need it. He creates a fun learning environment and isn't afraid to admit his own mistakes and make a joke of it. He is open to student opinions and overall and awesome Physics professor. Without him I would be clueless in the world of Physics.

Its tough to say. I think he makes the material a little hard, by deriving EVERYTHING. He tends to lecture the board, and go off on these rants. Oh, and the front 3 rows definitely get the bulk of his attention. Sometimes I feel like he writes on the board to show off...BUT, he is extremely helpful, grades on a curve, and gives extra credit often.

The perfect physics professor. Smart, helpful, interested, and very nice. If you want to get an easy A, then don't take a class with Paul. If you want to learn something, he's the guy

Comment:
Prof. Nakroshis will be very tough if you have no interest in the subject, but that's true of any professor teaching a hard subject. Physics is not easy, and if a professor is going to teach it well, the class will be difficult. If you are looking for an easy 'A', look somewhere else. If you are looking for knowledge, you could do a lot worse.
