Comment:
Wenthold is a solid lecturer and a funny guy. Doesnt have unrealistic expectations for students and gives plenty of opportunity for easy points, but his exams are no cakewalk. The class does get significantly harder in the second half, and his lectures were a little rushed because he was behind schedule, but it wasnt too big of a deal.

Wenthold is not your usual scribble-note-the-entire-class-every-class type teacher. He gives handouts for you to fill out during class and spends the majority of time explaining things rather than writing out notes. He has a passion for teaching which is very evident. I enjoyed him as a professor and if you go to office hours you're sure to do well

buy the textbook on Amazon - he follows it so much, it made exams so much easier especially if you missed lecture, quizzes on friday, offers tons of extra credit randomly, he reuses old exams (he posts past 3 - protip find past 4), I watched ALL solution videos prior to exam (homework, exams, problem sets) and averages 130/150 every exam

Not the best. Imagine that michael scott was your orgo professor, thats wenthold. He's eccentric, has the class setup in a weird way where there is no homework and open book quizzes, but it still somehow bites you in the ass. You can skip the final if you get 720 points though, but that means doing everything including following him on twitter.

What he says in lecture is important, but most of the things you'll need for the exams won't be explained and so you'll have to rely on the homework and google.

Prof. Wenthold genuinely cares about students but teaches in interesting ways. Lectures give basic understanding of material but you must find the deeper understanding yourself through working problem sets, the optional hw's , soln. videos's etc. For this reason, there's not much turned in work and people do poorly bc they fail to realize this.

GO TO CLASS and pay attention. Great lecturer and all of his exams and problem sets are solely based off of what he tells you in class. If you do not pay attention in class, you will not do well in the class. Also, his video answer guides of the homework questions are incredibly helpful if you take the time to sit down and listen to what he says

Sometimes his teaching style is a little difficult to get used to. He doesn't teach like the typical professor. But he is really enthusiastic about chemistry and tries to instill that onto the students. His tests are based on his notes mostly. Real life orgo on Wednesday is something to look forward to.

Lectures were good and not completely boring (90% on first exam). He does expect you to go a little farther than what he teaches in lecture, i.e. read the online text which is short and do all the recommend homework and watch the solutions. Overall a good chemistry teach imo, but everyone has their own

You have to go lectures if not , you won't pass the exam. And you have to spend more time on self-taught. I watched tons of online videos just finally got a B+ and only need 10 points away from A.

I learned absolutely nothing from him. He also doesn't assign a textbook, claiming one is not needed for this course. My friends in other organic chemistry classes laughed at that because there is simply no way to learn orgo without a textbook. He explains things in a way that makes them more complicated than they need to be.

Awesome teacher. A little all over the place in his lectures, but hey, it's organic chemistry, the topic itself is all over the place. Class is simply hard because organic chemistry is hard. Wenthold really cares about his students, and has ample amounts of extra credit opportunities, extra study materials, etc. Tests are pretty difficult

Very poor professor. I feel very sorry for those that have to have ol' Wenthold next fall. His video solutions were not only unclear, but contradicted ideas very often. His grading is sketchy and there is no clear reasons for why points are lost on certain areas. Misguided me on problem sets during office hours and magically assigns +/- grades.

He is knowledgeable but does not know how to sustain the interest of the students nor convey his knowledge in a way that is easily understood. He can be more organized in his lectures, focus more on how to answer the exam questions and be more approachable during his office hours. I wouldn't take this class if had another choice.

This professor is awful. I had to take both orgo 1 and orgo 2 with him. His lectures make no sense and it's a waste of time to go. As most people have said he does put solutions online for all homework, exams, and problem sets but most of the time it is a lot similar to his lectures which are really bad, also he can't write clearly on the videos.

He teaches his lectures in a way I found very easy to understand. Even if you do not understand the lecture he always posts online solutions to the homework and shows you step by step how to solve them. The class is tough there is no getting around that and he does make you work for your points. His tests have some gimmie answer some tough ones

This professor is terrible in lectures. He basically teaches down to you. He portrays material in a way that is hard to grasp for students. Tests and problem sets are very difficult and his grading is questionable. He even told our group basically we were stupid for the way we did our project instead of constructive criticism. Not much good to say.

really bad, make nonsense, homework and exams are hard but he just talks a little bit basic things in class. Then yourself need to pay a lot of time study and still cannot handle the exams and homework easily...
