Comment:
Dr. Kvidera is a soft-spoken, caring man who thoroughly goes through all class material until the time limit without much repetition. My class was graded solely around 4 writing assignments, but class time, peer review, and writing center were often available. Not an easy A, but certainly attainable if you apply yourself.

Dr. Kvidera is a great English professor that can be challenging. He does give out pop quizzes on the readings and takes a participation grade so make sure you have at least an idea of the readings before class. Discusses many interesting books and concepts and gives out two opportunities for extra credit.

He is a very nice guy and his class is very interesting. He can be a tough grader, but there is not as much time to answer the questions. As long as you read you will be fine. He just expects to write everything out for his questions. Other than that, he is a good teacher and willing to work with you on a paper outside of the class. Take him!

(linked with CO 200) Do the extra credit. Worth it and easy (watch a movie/play and write about it) He is fair in his grading. Likes participation, but will not call you out. Books chosen are not bad. He gives study guides for tests and let us bring the book to the final to help write the essay. Two thumbs up.

Kvidera is a genuinely nice person. He stumbles along through his words sometimes, but you can tell he really knows and cares about what he is teaching. He does give pop quizzes, so attendance matters. Tests are all essays, which I liked. Books he chose were interesting. He is a pretty tough grader, but he does offer a lot of extra credit!

Gives Extra Credit, which seemed to be quite helpful - do as much of it as you can! That said, he graded my first exam far too harshly, which left me in a proverbial hole from the beginning of the semester on.. Nice guy, but there are some things you don't do... One such thing is you don't give pop quizzes the class after an exam! He does though!

This man is a terrible teacher. He is boring. If you want to read about 22 different stories and then have a cumulative final then this is the class for you. All tests are essays. There is one paper. and I recommend never take this class or this professor.

He rambles on during class and he does not explain himself. He excepts us to know everything about the readings. Read the book and take notes and you'll succeed. Also try and teach yourself what is going on.

He really loves his job. He really digs deep in the texts. I suggest reading all the material he assigns so you can participate in class, participation is a huge portion of the grade. The exams are tough and the final is brutal! He responds fast to emails and is very nice

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!. This man, was a work of art. I'm telling you, do not take him unless American Literature is your thing! I'm not an english major, I took this for my lit requirement! One of the worst classes and profs I have had at JCU. I still cringe when I see him in the OC

Dr. Kvidera is soo cute!! He wears salmon-colored shirts and talks with his hands a lot. He likes to get everyone into a "circle discussion". The class is not bad at all. He gives one midterm, a final, a 6-7 paper, and a couple pop quizzes throughout the semester but he lets you drop 2 and do extra credit to bring other grades up. Very helpful.
