It's very hard to find laid-back math teachers, lectures gave an overview but as with any math class, the learning responsibility is placed on you. It is still very much appreciated to have a chill professor.

Richard Lopez is the most horrible teacher I ever had. Lectures are boring bonded with hard tests. avoid him for your own sake.

I really liked Mr. Lopez. I took him all year for precalc. His office hours are super helpful, I've always struggled with math and I learned so much in his class! Not going to lie, the tests are difficult and you have to study, but if you go to class and ask him when you're confused you can get a good grade.

At De Anza, he is the best math professor who really cares his students. His lectures are well organized and very clear. He explains everything in a professional manner. If you want to get a good grade and the best knowledge of math, he is the one. It is highly recommended to take his classes.

Great teacher. I took him for MPS Math 41. He really makes sure you understand the concept before continuing. I really appreciate how he cared for the class. Just do your homework ,go to office hours or tutoring. There is so much help at De Anza, so don't slack off. Just don't skip any classes because you'll miss a lot.

A monotone voice makes the lectures feel heavy. It's ironic because we were studying waves. Although he is a good teacher, it was hard to stay focused because it felt like a Catholic church. lol

Mr. Lopez was my favorite professors. He explains the concept well and will take his time explaining the material if the class doesn't understand it. Just remember to go to his office hours if you need help. Overall great and caring teacher.

One of my favorite teachers in the math department! His teaching style is very clear and he is super helpful. He makes concepts easy to understand and spends a lot of time answering homework questions compared to other professors. His grading is very lenient; offering partial credit on quizzes and exams. An overall great professor!

He's great. I hated math before his class, but he was super clear! He's totally willing to work with you, and he's a nice person. If you aren't that great at math, take his MPS class! I recommend him.

I took his 1A class several quarters ago and I'm taking 1C right now, he is one of the best profs I've ever had. He is really organized and clear with his lecture and schedule, cares a lot for the students and try to help by any means.

Comment:

Taking his class was a challenging, but rewarding experience. He may assign a lot of homework but if you mange the time, youll be fine. His exams were pretty difficult, but office hours he will help you. He may throw curveballs, but a majority of them come from the book. I am satisfied with my grade because I am prepared for 1Bs expectations.

Richard Lopez is a definitely a great teacher as he always goes over the basics and proofs before he begins his lecture, homework is not mandatory but very helpful if you want to do well on the exam as some of the questions are on exams. He is a very caring professor never seen him belittle anyone if they need help. VERY HELPFUL TEACHER! TAKE HIM

Unlike other Math teachers, he teaches the concept and application of every topic. He assigns a lot of homeworks, but it is worth though as long as his exams are straight from the HW questions. No brainer needed to take his class... Good luck!

I had a full time job while doing 12 credits and I got an A from only attending class. He gives clear example in class, corrects homework at the beginning of class, go 1-1 to explain what you did wrong in the quiz, very good professor. Take him if you want to work in class only and still have a good grade

Hes a good professor! He knows how to make lectures interesting, and isnt dull. Heavy on homework, but it is helpful. He is understanding if you dont always get the homework done on time. Pay attention in class, do the homework, and you should be able to get an A. He is better than the negative feedback he received on here.

I have taken Richard Lopez twice. For 41, & Calc 1A. The reviews that say his exams were really hard probably didn't study. Many students come onto here, and want an easy class (I have). I think he is a very good teacher. I enjoyed his lectures, & he will answer ANY questions you have. If you're consistent with hw & study, you should be fine!
