Ive taken several Blyn courses and Dr. Blyn is one of my favorite professors at UWF. Doing the readings and participating in class discussion is major. Other commentators on Dr. Blyn being rude? They most likely slacked off on work. She has zero tolerance for students slacking off. Do your job as a student and she will respect your opinions.

Love Dr. Blyn! She is a tough grader, but she allows you to revise your first essay, and is always willing to help you. She is also incredbily understanding about student's situations.

Prof. Blyn's class was definitely the low point of my week. She was rude to multiple people in our class. If you miss a class for any reason you fail your quiz for that week and if you fail three quizzes you fail the class, even if you had a 100 on all of your papers. Just a little too overbearing to be a college professor.

Probably the best professor I've had at this school. She's very sweet and knowledgeable about what she teaches. Gives great feedback on papers and is willing to work with you. Her classes aren't easy but I can honestly say that I've learned a lot.

Professor Blyn is very intelligent and well-spoken. I absolutely loved her and she was always very nice to me, but I will say she could be rude to some students who spoke out a lot and had a different pov than her. Extremely tough grader and I never did well on the hw. Charismatic and good sense of humor as well as understanding.

Very helpful. Very interesting. She grades hard, but makes it clear what she wants from you. I finished this class confident that my writing and critical reading improved exponentially. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Blyn is a difficult professor. She is rude as well. If you ask a question, she tells you to look it up. When doing critical analysis, if you don't agree with her opinion, you will fail. Don't dare interpret it as you see it. I have other classes with other professors and I have an A avg. Blyn is a busy work professor with a control complex.

Is highly intelligent and open to ideas. Presents her own opinions as simply opinions and loves to hear yours as well as long as they are on topic. Great teacher. Youll learn a lot. The books she chose were wonderful and relateable. She grades essays difficulty, but it is to be expected in this type of class. I hope to take her many more times.

Dr. Blyn covered a wide range of material and really tried to engage the whole class. Funny and intelligent, she managed to make me look forward to class. Grading was fair and offered council on writing via e-mail or office hours. Will take other courses with her.

Dr. Blyn seemed to be a charming individual when we first met. She is certainly interested in teaching. However, she allows some bias into her grading. Be warned; if you don't at least make an attempt to align your essays with Marxist theory, you probably will receive a good grade.

Blyn is an amazing professor that tries to include the entire class in the discussion and considers everyone's opinion: you just have to prove it! She enters the class room-like any decent professor that takes his/her job seriously-with an interpretation of the text, but will consider other readings and will urge the student on with her charisma

D. Blyn was the worst professor I have ever had. She spouted her opinion as the truth and then would get mad if anyone opposed her. She told one student the second day of class that he would fail her class and when he said that there was no way of knowing that, she replied that she would make sure he failed. She is the absolute worst professor.

I lived this class. It was exactly what I expected and while I disagreed with it, I certainly enjoyed her point of view. Freud, Nabokov, etc. What a blast. I took this upper level class as a sophomore and did well and learned alot. Be prepared to write and really explore topics - do not miss class and do not slack (you won't want to anyway). A+

I was so hyped about taking the class and by the end of the semester I was completely bummed. I spent 25 hours writing/revising the midterm and earned a C+ although there were no errors pointed out. I did not share her p.o.v., so I was "wrong."

The comments about Dr. Blyn being elitist are ridiculous. Sure, she carries herself like she has a Ph.D. because, newsflash, she does. Dr. Blyn's classes are very challenging but EXTREMELY engaging and rewarding. She is one of the only teachers I know who can keep a nearly full class throughout the entire semester. She is funny, kind, and helpful.

I am a senior and through all of my college experience, I have never seen such a Condescending teacher. She will read summeries, she wrote, of the books you are required to read. As she reads them, she will retorically say to the students, "that sounds pretty good, huh." Also, she will ignore certain people she does not like who want to participate

I think RMP should delete that "Elitist" comment. Dr. Blyn is so smart, and she expects great essays out of everyone, white trash or not! She is one of my favorite teachers, and her enthusiams for what she teaches really draws you in to literature that you might even otherwise hate! Yeah, she grades really hard, but her class is worth it!
