Extremely difficult class. Professor Patin was the most challenging professor I encountered during my time at MSU. Be prepared. Definitely make sure you understand the material FULLY before taking the tests.

Comment:

Do not recommend taking this class in the summer. It is too compact. His tests are hard, but doable. He relies 100% on tests for grades, and does not grade homework. He does not go into enough detail when working equations, thus you are left to figure it out on your own. I would not recommend this professor.

Dr. Patin is a good professor because you are not going to take his class and leave knowing as little about the subject as when you started. I have taken some like that. All that is required is a little studying and making sure to attend class. He was more than happy to help me with any questions I had.

Dr. Patin is an amazing professor. Anyone who says otherwise can easily be grouped as "slackers" or outright "lazy". He teaches really well and is willing to help (if you at least make an attempt). If you want to learn your stuff (and if your major is finance you should), take his class. After all, you did go to college to learn.

Did not have enough supplemental practice problems. Very intelligent, but maybe too proficient to pass the knowledge to students. Exams were a way of testing at a higher level than what was required...I would NOT recommend.

He def is a hard teacher, but if you buy the book and actually do the homework, all the test questions are like them. Also if you ask any questions in class or even after class, he is very willing to help you understand.There is a lot of math equations invloved in this class, and its best if you actually read the chapters to understand the material

He starts problems and never finished them and then puts the answers on a spreadsheet online and never shows you how he got from A to B. This is the hardest class i have had in college. I have never dropped a class or got below a C in a classs, until this guy. He is very knowledgable, but he doesn't explain anything well at all and moves at a fast pace. Hated this class. He should teach grad school.

He CANNOT TEACH!!! its like he enjoys failing people..looks like a minature einstien without the afro..and with POCKET PROTECTORS!! uses students as his own lab mice to test their smartness...he should just stop while he is at it...one of the worse professors at the school.

He needs to go back to teaching grad school. Make sure that you buy the hard copy of the text, not the e-book (even though it's cheaper). By all means read the chapters and do go to him for help. He will make you feel like a retard. You better have an accounting background, or you will barely make it. I studied so much, and still got a C.
