Comment:

The course itself was very.... Eccentric. the Quiz and test questions were so horribly worded that they seem like something straight out of a third grade class. example: "With which of the following are users who shut down their computer or mobile device regularly least likely to be concerned?" All quizes were like this.

I took this class summer term (8 weeks instead of 10) so during week 2 and week 5, we did 2 modules instead of 1. It was a lot of work, but doable and he explains the assignments well. I really liked Erdman and recommend him for anyone taking CIS120.

Class is fine, really easy. Though his grading policies can get ridiculous because he will take 50% off your assignment if you didn't turn it in in both the FTP server AND the dropbox, which seems ridiculous to me. I did the assignment, on time and well. I don't see why I have to turn it in both places to get full credit.

I'm a CIS major so grain of salt here. Took this online and it was super easy. If you aren't computer savvy just give it some extra time. PAY ATTENTION to, and follow the instructions and it's an easy A. 1 discussion per week, a weekly assignment that usually took about an hour to finish plus a short weekly quiz. Give yourself time for HTML week.

DO NOT TAKE ONLINE!!!! He can be very clear at times and other times is soooo confusing on what he is asking of you. It's easy if you can understand his instructions and navigate through his train wreck of a class.

Honestly, I took this class because it counted towards my Science GenEd credit. I am SO glad I did. It was way easier than any science class I remember! I took this class online & the instructions were step by step, crystal clear. I am far from a "computer nerd" but this class was fairly easy &I learned a lot! Would HIGHLY recommend this teacher!

Provides a schedule that is easy to follow for assignment. Most lectures are very detailed and easy for follow, except for assignment 5. Make sure you follow the instructions clearly to get full credit. I recommend having some knowledge in HTML to be in this class. If you are confused, ask questions. HE IS GREAT AT HELPING!!

Bottom line: this is way too hard for a beginning CIS class. This class had more homework than it should have. The assignments were hard and extremely confusing. The tests were also hard, but nothing compared to the massively involved assignments. This class will consume every ounce of your time and energy.

Mr. Erdman is a good teacher and gives help when needed. The only thing I didn't like about this class was that the assignment instructions were a bit overkill and therefore were a little confusing at times.

I took this class online and enjoyed it. Not to mention, Mr. Erdman saved my bacon a couple times when he absolutely did not have to. He was helpful and supportive towards my success in his class…always answered my emails quickly! I knew a little about computers before, and now I know a little more! And people, open book tests and quizzes!?

This is a VERY difficult class if you aren't technically oriented. Russ can come across as a bit gruff, however he is willing to sit down and help you if you make the effort to come in before class and will get back to your emails quickly. Thankfully, all tests are open book, so it helps if the projects are over your head.

Russ is an over all good instructor, but his schedule and timelines for due dates is very scattered and leaves much to be desired for consistency. He is very power point oriented, which was not helpful to me. All of his power points were listed on the course website. He allows way to many distractions during his lectures as well.

Course aside, this is by far one of the worst instructors I have ever had. Erdman is not at all personable. If you ask questions, he talks down to you. Many people were falling behind in this class, and instead of being helpful he was condescending and rude. The only benefit is that the midterm and final are open book.

Russ is one of the few college teachers left that will try and work with you and your own personal issues that u face while you are attending college. He gives a very thourough lecture which may be boring for some but i feel it gives you the oportunity to ensure you fully understand everything he has to teach you.

Professor Erman is awesome. I love lecture when I take any class. Lectures are the extra buffer, and his lectures are very through. Although I am only in the middle of the session, it only takes the first few weeks to determine what the rest of the term will be. Hats up for Russ Erman

This teacher is nice and helpful but gave extremely boring lectures. He drained the life out of every topic and made it almost impossible to listen. Very hard to sit through. ALOT of busy work and tons of homework. I would not suggest this teacher.
