Comment:

The testing for this class was terrible. Be prepared to read 2-4 chapters a week and do critical thinking quizzes with no notes or book. The midterm was about a dozen multiple choice, then an essay giving specific dates, names, and places. No notes, of course. Avoid this professor unless you're a workaholic.

Grades extremely hard but she is a very helpful and caring professor. If you're willing to study hard and work for it, it's an easy class. Don't take this class as a blow off, easy class though.

There are four books, and you'll read all of them. She gives detailed study guides, but they are long. You have to study the entire thing because you don't know what will be on exams. You have to read the chapters, or you won't pass. She emails back quickly, though, and will look over your study guides before the exam/quiz.

I appreciate Dr. Janda's teaching style so much. Instead of the usual elementary-style tests filled with multiple choice, her exams and quizzes are essays. For those of you who are lazy and do not know how to write outside of social media, skip her class. There is a lot of reading and writing, so it is important not to get behind.

She is tough on grading, and doesn't give homework, but she gives a great study guide and as long as you keep up with your readings and attend class you will pass. I love how she's very understanding and does work with you if you need extra time or help on anything. One of my favorite professors.

she is very tough and you have to read the hollitz book in depth or the quizzes can be very tricky. all test are short answers and essay questions. no multiple choice.

Excellent teacher, goes very in depth in her lectures. Like others have said, the grades aren't just handed out, so be prepared to earn it! Overall, she's a great teacher who obviously cares about her subject and wants her students to thoroughly understand that material. You know... like a professor should.

Be prepared to actually study. I have not had to try very hard to pass in the majority of my classes but I had to study hard in this one. Dr. Janda knows exactly what she is talking about and is very thorough. If you read the books and study you will do fine. I learned more about History in this class than all of my years of school growing up.

She is a wonderful teacher. Her class is not easy and you have to go to class and study in order to make it in her class. She really knows her material. This is one of the few classes that I have taken in which I actually learned something.

If you take this class welll good luck. You have to read every chapter in the book and she only gives test theres no homework so its hard to keep your grade up especially if your not a good test taker! I barely passed her class. Her lectures are interesting but I wont take her class again!

She is a great professor, but be ready to read and read and read some more! She has like 5 reading quizes each over four chapters and a midterm and a final. Just be ready to read and write! The more details you put in your essays the better the grade. Dont expect a good grade because you REALLY have to earn it! After the 6th absence she drops a let

She is intelligent and good looking. Makes you earn your grade, no gimme's. I really enjoyed her classes, Women in Politics and African American History. I disagreed with her on most subjects, but that made class intersting, my grades did not suffer for it, and I feel I actually learned something. Would take her again.

She really likes to hear herself talk but not educate students. The tests are just from the book so you might as well not even attend the class meetings. I would think that CU could do better than having Sarah teaching. If you want to actually learn about history and care about history then you need to take someone else. Her class is a waste!!!
