I loved Dr. Baird. He is a tough grader and the first exam is the last class average. Attendance is worth 5% of your grade. He has homework due once a week and every Friday he treats as a "recitation"; get into groups complete a paper that is generally similar to the homework. He responds quickly to emails and is ALWAYS willing to meet with you.

I really enjoyed Dr. Baird as a person, however, he is a very hard grader and grades homeworks like tests, I did all the homework & tried my best & still got an F for the overall homework grade at the end of the semester. His test are very detailed & are nothing like the practice ones he gives you. Expect to study extremely hard if you want to pass

This professor's lectures are LONG! Very dry, does not make the class interesting . If you can't make it to a class, you'll be behind the rest of the semester. The tests are essays only. Your graded on the amount of depth you can recall about each subject. A HUGE study guide is emailed but if you don't memorize the whole thing your doomed.

Expect to show up to class everyday. He has in class assignments on most days which serve as both attendance and notes. He views powerpoints as a canvas to be painted in class which means that they are mostly blank slides. Yet his exams are straightforward. Attend class, review your homework, and write like crazy on the exam (essay) and get an A.

3 tests, doesn't drop lowest one. Can take final if you want but will most likely drop your grade. Never has powerpoints on time, rushes through important stuff, likes to have horrible class averages. Had no idea what I was going to get in the class ALL semester. All tests were 10 essay questions/math essay. AWFUL PROF!!!

This class was pretty challenging but very doable if you study the notes and the homework that he gave weekly. The homework was annoying to do but it was a huge help to prepare for the exams. He dropped the lowest exam. You definitely cannot skip class though if you plan on getting a good grade because his tests come entirely from class notes.

I took Dr.B for bio 115 and REALLY disliked his teaching methods- all powerpoint and boring. However, when I took him for bio 2110, he seemed to have made a complete 180. He taught using mostly diagrams we drew together in class, which was great. The homework is great practice for the exams and cushions your grade. Exams come primarily from the hw!

Dr. Baird does not provide notes to students or really write anything on the board (except for drawings). Be prepared to go to class because your notes are your only source of help when doing homework or studying. We hardly used the book. His test questions mostly come straight from the homework assignments, with a few extrarandom hard ones as well

This class is just ridiculous. His lectures aren't mandatory, but you have to go in order to take notes since he doesn't post slides and everything is hand written (half of which isn't legible). The book is worthless, half the stuff he talks about isn't even in the book or any of my other biology books. Not a good professor at all

Very nice guy. I was the last person in our final and he was patient enough to wait on me to figure things out without making me feel pressured. Exams are difficult but an A is attainable. Reading the book is ABSOULUTELY necessary for success in the exams. Studying strictly from his powerpoints will likely result in a bad grade.

Dr. Baird is a very amiable person with great heart. I enjoyed his class by taking a lot notes and going to his office appointment for questions. It will be really helpful for you to go to his class on time, so you can organize your class motes and review them before exams. All the questions are from his class. Definitely recommend!

Dr. Baird is a very interesting man. He is very intelligent and conveys information very well. The only negative I could say about him is that his exams are killer difficult. He'll always help you at his office hours! There's just a lot of material covered in this class.

Dr. Baird is a classic professor. The class is very interesting and not difficult if you come to class and take notes. Tests come exclusively from what is given in class, not extra stuff from the book. Tests are all essay and require studying. Very helpful, highly recommend!

Dr. Baird is great He uses chalk and chalk board in place of an overhead or powerpoints. Attendance isn't mandatory but notes are only given in class and he only tests over what he covers in class. Material was very interesting but required some statistical competence. Recitation will boost grade. He is a VERY liberal grader. Highly recommend.

I think he has to dumb himself down for us lesser mortals. He uses such complex language, you will think you walked nto an african village, rather than a genetics class. As most travelers do, you learn the language, get comfy in the lumpy beds and actually enjoy yourself. When its all said and done, you learn a lot and have some sweet memories too.

Dr. Baird is very intelligent, maybe too intelligent. Sometimes it seems like he thinks we're all a bunch of idiots, but if I were that smart, I'd agree. My advice, take all the classes that he teaches. They're not hard, and you'll learn a lot.
