Shirley is an awesome prof. She is very caring and passionate about spanish. Her class is not significantly hard compared to any other spanish class. Oral exams are awesome.

Shirley is a good teacher and tells you exactly what is expected of you, although sometimes her syllabus can be confusing. My only complaint about her as a teacher is she is extremely impatient and will spend more time saying "Guys" to get TWO people talking to be quiet than just continuing on with class. It honestly takes more away that way

The class was pretty easy. The whole semester is spent on studying the preterite vs. imperfect tenses. If you study your vocabulary and know the irregular verbs it will be an easy A.

In the beginning, I liked her teaching style. But as the class went on, she got more critical on what she expected us to know and was somewhat annoying and rude as a professor.

Shirley is a character. She is confusing at times because she doesn't clarify in English. If you have a question on something she will describe it in Spanish, which is not helpful. You also have to do a lot of vocab and grammar learning on your own before class otherwise you will be lost for class.

Not recommended, the homework load is unneccessary. It seems like she'd be more cut out for teaching small children rather than college adults. She talks in a very condescending tone and seems almost bipolar at times, with regard to her moods. Bottom line: Don't take her.

I do not recommend Shirley UNLESS you are a spanish major/minor. The homework load is tremendous, however, class activities are engaging/meaningful and I DO learn a lot, which makes tests MUCH easier than last semester. Friendly, but intimidating. Tough teacher to impress. Speak spanish the entire class. Not an easy A.

For an intro spanish class the work load was a little much and we would cover topics that the upper divisons weren't. She is an extremely nice lady, but can get very irritated with students who don't listen. Overall was an easy class but always do your culturas and participate!!!

If you are simply trying to get your spanish requirement, definately DO NOT take Shirley. You will have more spanish homework than you thought was possible, and you will recieve all of your assignments through e-mail, so directions and expectations are very unclear. She can be nice, but usually is not very to those who wont or can't participate.

Very nice, but useless. Everyone reads the texts in english anyways even though I didn't. She will talk the ENTIRE class even though it was supposed to be a discussion. This does not make you want to read. Not understanding and very, very moody. Made me hate spanish and it is my major and I went to Spain.

Shes a very friendly person, she wants all her students to do well. but on several occasions she got angry if we could not speak spanish correctly, shes very moody. I thought her homework was too excessive for a 111 class.Out of all my classes, I spent the most time on my spanish homework. Not the worst prof, but avoid her if possible.

Awesome! She is a great prof! Very friendly and helpful in and outside of class. Made class fun. She's very understanding/patient when you make errors speaking in Spanish. I highly reccomend her.

AWESOME prof who really cares about her students. you HAVE to take her, she's super nice and you will learn a lot. class isn't difficult and hardly any homework besides online exercises (which everyone has to do).
