Stephan is awesome. I've had him for two semesters, and I love working with him. He's insightful, funny and friendly. He knows what he's talking about and will make you a much better photographer. Keep in mind, the workload is INTENSE. You'll be in the darkroom for 5 hours a week outside of class. Stay on top of your workload, and it's worth it.

He gives tons of work. He is not only quantitative but cares about the quality very precisely. His grading is too picky. We are not wood-be photographers, we are COLLEGE STUDENTS. He doesn't understand this fact. The course is interesting but if you care about your GPA, NEVER ever take his class.

He is cheerful and a good speaker but he is less helpful compared to John and Anibal.I liked his class a lot, however, I think he is an extremely tough grader.If you are a super star in Photography, you may get an A but basically A doesn't exist in the class. If you work extremely hard,you will get an A-. Also the course load is insane...

Good man and teacher, sometimes can be cluless but overall is very smart and has a lot to offer students who really care about photography. Won't take an individual interest in students unless they are aggressive. Entertaining and intelligent, good class.

stephan is by far the best professor i've had at fordham. he taught me how to talk about art, and to think about photography in a much more profound way than i ever did before. he is difficult, but for a reason, and if you don't see that, then i am sorry for you. the man changed my life, and i hope to count him as a friend long after i've left FU.

Do not expect to get an A or even close to it. He cares more about quantity (in terms of the number of prints you produce) than about the quality of your work so just make 100 prints and you'll be fine. I thought the class was pretty horrible overall. He expects it to be your whole world. If it's not you will def. be unhappy the whole semester.
