Prof. Abbotson is a great professor. Sure, you have to work hard for to get a good grade in English. But, she is a really helpful and caring professor.

Comment:

Who knew a childrens literature class would be so strenuous. Prepare to spend hours reading every single night for about 10 weeks of the semester. In terms of the papers, Im not sure its possible to get an A. Unless you agree with her, youll never be right. Lets you redo papers but barely brings up your grade. Idk what to do to get an A.

Abbotson is an amazing professor. As with any English class of course you read a lot and so a lot of worksheets essays etc but she was great at explaining everything and was so sweet. As long as you do your work and show up I think its an easy grade.

She's a wonderful person who is very passionate about what she teaches. She uses a small book as the textbook, costs about 6 dollars as a rental. You will have to do some acting out but as someone who is shy she made is more comfortable. She gives a bunch of worksheets or quizzes and drops the lowest few. And she excuses late work.

She is a very caring person and an amazing professor. I took her for First Year Seminar. Her work is pretty easy and she's always helping you when you need it. I would take her again !

She is an UNBELIEVEABLE teacher and I would take her again ina heartbeat. She really knows her stuff, and is willing to help you along the way if you show her you work hard and go to the classes. Not that much reading, but a lot of emphasis on analzying and PROPER MLA FORMAT! Overrall, extremely helpful for future classes.

Amazing professor! She was always available to help, especially when working on a paper. Her assignments on proper MLA style were extremely helpful and will be carried through all my classes. It is an English survey class, so it is obvious that you will have to do a ton of reading. I highly recommend taking classes with this professor.

Comment:

Professor Abbotson is a great professor, but a very tough grader. She rips your essays apart, but that means you absolutely get the grade you deserve. Some comments can come off as rude, but overall are helpful. She's very flexible when it comes to late assignments and if you miss class she sends a thorough email outlining what you missed.

This professor lectures about every single author. There are about 10-15 books you must read in order to participate. There is a specific idea she sees in every book and it seems like if your opinion does not match hers, you are wrong. Many times she gives sarcasm or laughs when you try to participate in class.

gives you background info for each author. at least 5-8 books to read. reading quiz every book read. must read entire book by next class usually. essays are compare/contrast and heavily graded. if not her style, rude comments and little feedback. unless you're an ENG major. AVOID!

Very nice woman, but the hardest grader I have ever had! Two papers that are 4-6 pages long where you have to do a lot of analyzing. Also quizzes on every book that is read in this class and some of the questions involve reading the littlest details in the book. One of the most difficult classes I have ever taken !

Professor expects you to read several books throughout semester. You have to over analyze all the fairytales you read and "read between the lines." Class lecture is basically her going over the hw reading and explaining what the story may mean. Reading quiz every class or every other class. Papers are graded heavily. You'll definitely earn grade

Abbotson is really fair. You work hard and get the grade YOU deserve. I would definitely recommend her. Plus if you don't like the grade you get on an assignment, she allows you to do it over again.

She is a very nice woman but a tough grader. You can rewrite papers up until the last day of class-and she writes very helpful comments so your grade will always go up a lot. Exams are open notebook and are fair but a lot of writing. Classes are pretty much her just talking about the book-but don't expect to sleep through it (obviously).Great class

Her exams are open text and notes, but they're still very difficult. I find the class extremely boring as she talks on and on and on for the whole two hour lecture on tiny details of a playwright that she doesn't expect you to know for exams. Her grading is absolutely fair and she allows rewrites up to the last lecture. If you read you will do well

she is a very smart person and cares about your work. She takes the time to read your paper however, expects alot of you. Grades very harshly and thinks her opinion is the only correct one. Wants every single detail in a paper and to basically over analyze. You 100% earn the grade you put the work in for

good professor. lots of reading- always be prepared. there are sometimes quizzes and response papers. she only counts your 10 highest scores towards your FG which is awesome. always go to class! her exams are open book and open notes, so pay attention and take notes. not an easy A by any means. do your work and be detailed in everything.
