2 pop presentations, 1 test, and 2 papers are all you have for grades. Very tough on you during the project, but if you care, she will notice. DO NOT SKIP, not worth the backlash. Go to her office hours: one-on-one she is a lot more approachable. Once the project is done its great to job interviews b/c it showcases all the parts of advt together.

She was the best teacher I had at Penn State. She really makes you work for it, but she is also the only teacher to make me feel like I was prepared for the real world. Tough, but if you do the assignments in advance, she will help you out. Most realistic class to the real world as well.

Fairly easy class to pass if you keep your head down and don't have an opinion. REAL world advertising advice is minimal. Ask Ken! No leniency for even going on Job interviews! If you want to make it as a creative and stand by your opinions/ideas, try someone else. You can't learn advertising from a 10 yr old book which she forces on you!

LOL @ the people saying to avoid her at all costs. You'd be an idiot to not take her class. She isn't easy by any means, but she is by far and away the best professor I've ever had, in any discipline. It's obvious she really cares about her students and she absolutely prepares you for life outside of school. She's very, very bright and inspiring.

She is the best professor that I have had at PSU. She really inspires you to do your best at every level. She improved my writing, public speaking, research skills, and my GPA. The class seemed like a lot of work at first, but it was very well organized and not that hard. I would recommend this class for all AD/ Pr majors or pre-law.

Took it with an Honors option. Susan gave me a chance to research a project that eventually took an award at Penn State. Excellent instructor, cares about your work, no ego or power games, exemplary of what we should expect from the professoriate. One of my favorite instructors for my undergrad studies. A real pleasure to work with and learn from.

She is a really fun instructor! I had no idea I had an interest in linguistics until I took the class. If you take advantage of her multiple review sessions before exams, you can do very well with little or no additional studying.

The class was interesting, she's really nice, but the tests were wicked. Moreover, the grading blows - 95%'s an A, and my 94.1% ruined my GPA. So I'm bitter. But really, a tough class.

don't take it with her. She's confusing, obscure and makes the class much more difficult than it should be. I'm an A student and did horribl in her class. Her voice and weird speech impediment are incredibly annoying, too. No way, sister!

Took the advertising research class with strohm back in 1996 or so. I thought it was really great, and never thought I could actually enjoy doing research. The tests were very difficult and challenging. I remember after the first test, I almost dropped the class because I thought I failed it. But I got an A. Challenging but definitely doable.

Susan was great. Her class was challenging but she made grammar interesting and I was suprised by how much I enjoyed her class. She made the concepts clear and adjusted the class to students needs. I had her in the summer and there were teachers taking the class for the ESL cert.
