Comment:

Love Schiappa. She is very passionate about her work. I took her for a university seminar class so it was very discussion based and she was very insistent on getting everyone involved. The class I took wasn't for a major so the work was graded pretty easy as long as you put in effort. I am taking her again next semester because I like her so much.

Dr. Schiappa is one of the professors who treats you like an adult, and expects you to do the work required. You work for the grades you receive, and I am glad she teaches here.

Comment:

Super helpful. If you needed anything she was always available and helped clear anything up. Her lectures are very interesting and don't get boring. Her tests are all written responses, so no multiple choice, and they were very in depth. She graded them pretty tough to test your knowledge.

There are 4 exams, she gives about 8 modules to do that are kinda long, and you have a clicker so attendance matters. Her classes go by fast and she is very energetic so its not hard to stay awake and be interested. Easy class and she is very helpful.

Took over for Dr. Campbell this semester and honestly I had a blast with her. She's on my list of favorite profs now. The class was such a bore but she always made it more fun. She's that awkward kind of funny. She gives you plenty of opportunities for grades. I personally dislike geology, but if I had to take another class I would take it with her

Schiappa is awesome! I loved her for Oceanography! The lectures can get long, but she shows lots of videos and there's an activity about one day each week. She takes about 15 students to the Bahamas over spring break to study the ocean. She's crazy but in a hilarious way. If I have to take another geography class, I'm definitely taking her.

She is a nice person, however a poor teacher in oceanography. I tried very hard to do well in her class. Her tests are impossible. The class average for the first two tests were in the 20s and she did not curve them. Avoid taking this class if you are not prepared to go into her office hours every single day and study nightly.

Dr. Schiappa is an excellent professor and she generally cares about you. You have to work hard in her class to get an A, tests are all completion. Mostly lectures, but if you are unclear she will take time to explain. Take her, you will learn a lot!!

She is straightforward. If you do the work, show up, and at least put 60% effort in, you can at least pass. If you show up, work your butt off, you'll get a B probably. And if you work REALLY hard, you can maybe get an A. She's SO nice & helpful though. Loved her s a person.

Seriously is one of the best teachers I've ever had! So nice, so helpful and she's pretty interesting. If you actually study, do the work, and show up it's an easy A! She's really funny, and extremly helpful and understanding. If you can take any of her classes, DO IT!!!!! You will not regret it!!!!

Many will probably complain about her but shes not a hard teacher. Shes very nice & hardly assigns any out of class work. Her lectures are an overview of the chapters so if you don't read the short book chapters at least once you're probably gonna find her tests hard which they are far from. I got a B+ and put very little effort into the class.

I absolutely hated her class. Her tests are challenging and don't bother e-mailing her, you won't get a response. She forgets that she is teaching a 100 level course. It's a big class but you will still get a good amount of graded homework and papers. I am a good student and I do my work and generally get A's but I was praying for a B. Avoid.
