this is a hybrid class that requires a lot of studying on your own. Be sure to do the quizzes on cengage as they will help you learn better in class and to understand the materials better. Do the practice tests to prepare for the midterm and final, the final is cumulative.

I took ECO1001 as a hybrid course. Basically, it's two online quizzes a week where most of problems can be found online. Other than that, show up once a week (attendance is taken via TopHat), and study for his tests. Midterm 25% , Final 45%, and Online Work is 30%. He's a really cool guy and will always be willing to answer any questions you have.

Hybrids are hard. This class was very crammed with information every week, and if you don't do good on the online quizzes, it WILL affect your grade. I feel like hybrid's aren't good for this class. But he is a respectable professor. Just be ready to do a lot of stuff alone. The tests are hard.

Professor Joyce is a great professor. He is very caring, enthusiastic, and approachable for help in a class that is fairly challenging like applied econometrics. He mostly uses STATA throughout the class you get exp with the coding language. Handful of projects, two exams, and a few presentations. He's a great professor!

Professor Joyce does a great job at explaining complex topics so that they are fairly clear. He also gives tons of practice problems from old tests so that you can be adequately prepared for the final. Overall, if you do the work outside of the classroom then you will do fine.

I took this class as a hybrid-course and did decent on my midterm and final, however I highly recommend taking a normal lecture-heavy class for a course like this. Mindtap (the website all weekly quizzes are done with) doesn't really compare to having a professor to ask questions and specify how to understand a lot of these topics.

HYBRID class here. We were assigned online quizzes to do before and after each lecture (1x per week) and they were nothing like the problems on the midterm or final. It is easy to sign in and leave and he doesn't really help by giving more useful problems to prepare for the final. Its just 'find the practice exams online bye'.

He's an amazing econ prof that breaks down all concepts so they're extremely easy (more so if you're a math nerd). Since I took the hybrid edition, he only really only taught once a week. Regardless, he taught well and, if the option is available, take him twice a week!

Joyce is really amazing. He's able to break down complicated concepts and apply them to the real world in a way that few professors can. He fully discloses the hybrid class is going to require a lot of studying on your own. If you think you can handle the self studying, TAKE JOYCE.

Prof Joyce is a really clear and wants to help you do well. His homework is really useful and gives you an explanation if you get something wrong. His lecture explains the readings really well and professor is open to answering all of your ques. I took a hybrid course so ihad to put in a decent amount of studying/reading. Be prepared to do the same

Professor Joyce's lectures were clear, concise, and engaging. On top of that, he encourages you to ask questions about anything you don't find clear. As far as professors at Baruch go, he's the one that sets the bar. Nonetheless, if you're thinking about taking his hybrid, know that you HAVE to be self-motivated; his class is by no means an easy A.

This guy is amazing, he is very informative and helpful on his lectures. There were several group projects to do and since I took a hybrid course, there were quizzes every weekend. The exams are very challenging and conceptual. Overall, he is a great guy, but it's somewhat tough to get an A.

Had to take an economics class and I'm glad I took it with him. Knowing nothing about economics, I was able to get an A in the class. It wasn't easy though - Just do the homeworks, listen in class and skim the textbook. Most people didn't pay attention in class and that's probably why so many people had a hard time.

Joyce is a great guy but his exams are really tough. Towards the end of the semester he made us do a poll and almost 60% of the class said they would NOT take this course as a hybrid again. Work your butt off or look elsewhere.

I wouldn't say he is the best teacher that baruch has because he is a VERY TOUGH GRADER. If this class is offered as an hybrid, DO NOT TAKE IT

He explains the material very clearly and has offered reviews for the final and midterm. This was a hybrid class so you have to put in a lot of effort into learning the material before and after class. This can be a challenging subject but his lectures will help you learn. Mind-tap was also very useful.

Class was amazing! Class is hybrid, so you have to read the material on your own and he will be there to help you with any questions/concerns. If you can't study and learn on your own, then don't take a hybrid. Test is tough only because wording can mess you up. If you study, stay ontop of yourself and ask him questions you will be fine.

Economics is a pretty tough class to get into but I truly believe Joyce handled the hybrid class very well. If you are planning to take the hybrid class then you'll have to rely on only yourself to read and study before each class.
