Prof. Marinich is tough, but fair. I remember to this day (I took his course in 1995) when he took me aside and said, "You can do better than this." Those kind words changed my life. After that, I worked harder--became an A student. I went on to become a college professor. All because of his belief in holding his students to a high standard.

I like him a lot, he's funny, engaging, and interesting. Some people don't like him; he's a stickler for some things. For example, he expects you to answer confidently, and he'll correct you if your grammar is incorrect. However, it's not in a rude way. You won't get away with texting in class.

He is probably my favorite teacher ever. He messes with everyone every day. And he is really against being late, so if you tend to run late, don't take his class. He's really funny and cool though.

Mr.Marinich is one of those great teachers who really engages his students towards that topics and subjects in class. He's enthusiastic in his delivery the lectures in my class(western ancient time) and makes his students travel through time(well, that's how I feel and hope my fellow students did feel the same way). I highly recommend this class:)

He was the single most amazing teacher I've ever had at HCC. I wish he could teach all history classes. 2 hours flew by like it was 2 seconds. It was easy for me because I love history, but I can see how for some it might seem difficult. Not because he doesn't explain his expectations, but because you can't slack off and still get an A.

Very engaging and interesting. Not easy tests. I wish I had studied more. Got a C in the class, but I would take it again because of all the material I learned.

I really, really enjoyed his class! He tells great stories, jokes, and is understanding of heavy student workloads (he definitely adds to it, but may give extensions). He loves history and knows SO MUCH! He's a cool man and a great teacher. He's harder on Honors students doing well in his class is still manageable. RECOMMENDED CLASS AND TEACHER!

Did an excellent job of bringing history to life. He should be on the History Channel. Answered all the questions that any of his students gave him, clearly and concisely. Has a great sense of humor and clearly enjoys the subject as much as he enjoys teaching it. Probably the best professor I've had.

He made history exciting. Believe me, all throughout high school, history was one of my worst subjects. But he made it worth every penny. Time went by quick having his class. He's one of the professors you will remember when you graduate. =] Love him!!!

I hated him and his class. He was not funny, but rude,i hated how he would tell a student they were wrong in their answer if the student didn't say the answer in a confident tone. He lectured n gossiped about history, i could not follow. his lectures were a bunch of story's, interesting, yes. but at the end you had no clue what he had said to start

'Uncle Vlad' is one of my most favorite professors- ever. He has an incredibly wicked sense of humor and makes every class he teaches interesting. DON'T take his classes if you're looking for an easy grade or plan to slack off. Yes, he makes you work, but he's always fair. If you even just 'sorta like' history, TAKE HIS CLASS!!

His best aspect is his humour, lol. I swear every class I laugh my ass off at the jokes he cracks. He's not a hard teacher and he's crystal clear in his lectures. I guess the only crazy part about his class is the 10 page report you have to type up. 10 pages equals damn.

If you love ancient history take HIM!!! He is great and really knows his stuff. He makes the class fun. Its mostly lecture but the way he teaches it is almost like you come to class everyday and hear a different story f how something happened. He will give you a packet with questions just make sure you fill that out and you will be golden

Really love this professor! He knows the ancient world and readily shares really interesting stories that aren't in the text. I liked his class. He has an awesome wicked sense of humor! He'll make you work hard, but you'll learn a lot! Great class!

Professor Marinich makes his expectations perfectly clear on the first day of class. There is a lot of work, especially in his Honors/Rouse course, so don't expect an easy ride. You'll learn a lot if you put in the time. Alternatively, you won't get any sympathy if you don't. He was always available for help outside class.
