AVOID AT ALL COSTS I took a Duszenko class that is not listed on this site, his Linguistics 425 online class. Duszenko is an incredibly hard grader. He is not clear in his expectations and expects a lot. I once attended his office hours to receive some help on my assignment. He was incredibly arrogant and treated my as if I was below him.

Reading the literature starts off easy but gets progressively harder. You will go over the material in small groups. Sometimes he's hard to understand but just ask. He is very understanding if you are ill and lets you postpone tests/homework. At first he seems intimidating but just get to know him he genuinely cares about his students success.

He is a VERY good teacher. He is really smart, almost too smart for his own good. Sometimes I would feel quite below him, just because I didn't quite understand things. HOWEVER.. if you ask for help, you will receive help. He is willing to help out those who show interest in having a decent grade.

He is definitely a hard grader but if you work for it, you'll get the grade you deserve. He is a nice and interesting guy. He will also make sure you understand the material by allowing you to come into his office so he can show the material to you in a way you understand it.

Dr. Duszenko is an interesting guy and an excellent teacher. Many of the poor reviews he will receive are from students who are use to having easy grades and, when entering this class, discovered he might actually teach them something. His knowledge of English grammar is boundless and he understands he is first and foremost a teacher, not a friend.
