Lewinson is incredibly nice, but shes so scatterbrained that I wanted to pull my hair out. There were partner responses due almost every week and her exams are pretty much all short answer.

Comment:

Lots of lectures and long class discussions. There's reading every night, and if you miss just one night of reading prepare to be lost. Also, she's kind of awkward, but she is very sweet, and understanding.

If you want a class with a lot of structure, skip this class. Dr. L is a nice lady, she really is. But she tends to change her mind frequently on what she wants out of your essays. She'll tell you to do something then take off points for doing it, but she'll give the points back if you tell her. Overall okay class.

Comment:

Dr. Lewinson is very passionate about anthropology. This class has 3 textbooks, but you can rent them from the bookstore for around $15 or less each. She is a pretty easy grader making the class a relatively easy A, but you've got to read the assigned chapters. There are lots of fieldwork projects but they aren't difficult.

Lewinson is dorky but very passionate about what she teaches. I respect because of that but there was a whole lot of BS and busy work in her class. Wasted a whole lot of my time for a class that genuinely didn't teach me much. I love the concept of anthropology but her class kind of ruined it for me.

Dr. L. WOW. She is a piece of work. She does anything she can to help you not just understand but LOVE Anthropology. There is a lot of reading and some pretty cerebral writing, but she is my favorite professor at Berry. I added an Anthro minor because of her!

Dr. Lewinson is SO helpful. She gives alot of extra credit opportunities and is willing to look over essays before they are due and give you feedback on what to improve or change. Lots of reading, but easy fun reading. Highly recommend the class!

Very passionate about anthropology! She can seem a bit odd sometimes but that's just how she is...just laugh. Her class is not hard, just do the readings. So many people whine about the readings, don't do them, and then accuse her of being a hard grader. Just read and pay attention and you'll do great. She is very helpful and always available!

Dr. Lewinson uses the textbook all the time and assigns a lot of reading, usually every night. She uses a ton of group work in and out of the classroom so if you hate group work, don't take this class! The class is not very challenging but she assigns a lot of busy work. Dr. Lewinson is a very sweet professor, but I did not find her class very interesting. I think we spend too much time going over things we had read. She also assigns a lot of readings. Her test aren't very hard even if you haven't done the reading as long as you pay attention in class.

I HATE HER. I HATE THIS CLASS. I regret ever taking it. RUN! Her grading is very hard and she expects way too much out of and intro class. You have to read a lot. I HATE IT!!!!!

Very sweet and enthusiastic about her subject, but expects too much from intro class. Her instructions are vague and unhelpful, and her grading is REALLY picky. Nice, open to differing opinions, but frustrating as a professor.

Social Theory = wow. Probably the driest material and reading selections that I have ever had in a course. The material was really tough to learn, but Dr. Lewinson did her best to convey the material in an easier light. Furthermore, she was extremely helpful with any questions or concerns outside of class. The course wasn't your fault, Dr. L!

I was fairly pleased with this directed study course and how everything went. We met a couple of times a month so she could help me with a thesis-type paper due at the end of the semester.
