I have had three different music theory professors at UMaine for different classes, and Beth is absolutely the best. She was able to explain music theory concepts that I had never understood in a new way, more simply and directly than other teachers had. And she is hilarious and cool.

Schenkerian Theory (before I started this class) scared me. Tough subject, but Beth made it very interesting. A lot of reading and a few challenging assignments. If you stay on it, though, you'll do well. She's very approachable if you need help. I loved that she required one-on-one meetings during the course of working on the final project.

Take these classes! Beth is not only incredibly smart and willing to teach -- but she's funny as hell! I find myself going to the class to hear her speak. It doesn't hurt that you learn a lot, either!
