I had him for lab chem 112 lab, and he decided a 2 weeks before the end of the semester to have a final exam for chem LAB. Tough grader, not a nice guy. Do not recommend, switch o the other lab class if possible.

terrible professor who has a really bad temper. I remember when he yelled at me for cracking my knuckles. His explanations are so unclear , just do yourself a solid and drop the class.

Learned the most amount of chemistry in my life while taking this class. If you apply yourself, you will love this class. Durfee is a great teacher for this course, he knows the material very well. **When he mentions a book in class other than your textbook, that means go rent it and read it (assuming that you want to know whats going on).

Dr. Durfee is a great guy. He is passionate about Inorganic Chemistry and you can see this through his lectures. This class is difficult, but if you have any questions or are sincerely interested in the subject, Dr. Durfee is very willing to help you understand. That being said, this class is difficult.

Study hard but be ready to get a C or lower. he is a good person when you talk to him personally. Dont be late to class, Do all the practice questions he gives before tests they are normally the same questions on the best and make sure you understand the steps in doing that at least you will get a B OR A.

I personally don't like the way this professor teaches, BUT there are some students that actually learn from him. He is knowledgeable on the subject in which hes teaching, BUT hes not to available for help, and doesn't answer questions during his lectures. He often has an attitude ( he was also my academic adviser) I wouldn't recommend taking him

People this is a college class and you're going to have to study, period. Although he gets frustrated at times, he cares about students and as long as you attend class and do practice problems you should be fine. He gives lots of partial credit-no multiple choice here-and tests only on material covered in class. I recommend him to anyone.

You need to study. I had littleno chem or math background, did not understand lectures at all, but went home, read the book &did practice problems almost everyday. He is kind but he's not going to hand anything to you. I took advantage of every single resource available. All tests have a curve. Labs and HW are easy ways to bump your grade up.

He moves extremely fast and will not stop to answer questions. If you do not understand something he wont spend time explaining it. I understand he has so much to cover in little time but he is difficult to follow. He doesn't care if you understand. If you take his class you are on your own and you are paying him for no reason.

This professor is not that hard. It is a science based course so expect to do problems. The math on the exams is only precalculus. You have to teach yourself since this is CHE111 not math 101.

People like railing on him it seems but he really is not that bad of a teacher. He really loves teaching chemistry he just is not the best at teaching a 100 level course. His tests are all math based and he gives partial credit for pretty much anything as long as you tried and practice via homework during the term. Be prepared to study though.

This professor is HORRIBLE. He is mad at the world and is just plain miserable. When you ask questions he is very rude and acts as if you are stupid and should understand the material right away. I would recommend taking this course with a different professor if necessary. My whole class is struggling with this professor.

haven't taken chem in 10 years, but I was excited to start fresh. This professor is TERRIBLE at the 100 level for students. He brushes over topics with little to no detail. doesn't want to help u if you go to his office hours, gives 5 H.W. questions every other week and he's a miserable guy... P.s. don't crack your knuckles in class! he freaks out!

Doesn't teach very well at the introductory level. Grade based on three tests and lab grade. Posts optional homework assignments with answers which are very similar to the tests. Just study the homeworks and review the book before the tests

Class is not easy but the amount you can learn is limitless. Probably should be teaching at a better school but great for higher quality students looking to push themselves. PS don't be late to class or you will regret it.

I came to Buff State with Chemistry as my major an d this man made me despise that subject. It's not impossible to pass, but he is rude when he is asked questions and homework is hard to do. Tests are pretty impossible. If you get stuck with him, i'd advise using Khan academy or reading your textbook everyday

WORST TEACHER! seriously I loved chemistry before I took his class. Now I am changing my major and getting out of there entirely. He is a creep. If he wasn't talking to the board he was starring at me or another poor girl. If you get him switch ASAP. Monotone. Doesn't teach. doesn't explain. Gets mad when you ask questions. Even calls you stupid.

THIS IS THE WORST CLASS EVER! This man is extremely rude and teaches way too fast. when ever someone kindly asks him to slow down he tells them no and that he can not go any slower. He also talks to the board and erases right after he writes something down. Do not take this class!
