Carole is a great prof. She is hilarious in an adorably awkward way. This class had two midterms, and for the first one I thought the expectations were a little unclear. Attendance is worth a lot of the grade and the lectures are interesting. She cares about her students and wants us all to succeed, so ask lots of questions!

The only way you could possibly do poorly in this class is if you weren't paying attention in the first three years of your Anthropology undergrad. Maybe she has changed the course structure recently because none of the negative feedback I've heard holds true. Moderate workload. Her lectures are lovely and everyone enjoys her witty tangents.

Professor Blackburn is a caring professor and wants her students to succeed. The course is very interesting we got to read very interesting books about the native people and their cultures in both the US and Canada. There are 2 small papers, a midterm, and a final paper and she marks very clearly. I highly recommend this prof!!

I was genuinely taken aback by how poorly Carole Blackburn handled the history of anthropology. Lecturing is choppy, horrible metaphors and tangents, and does not show a PhD level understanding of the material. Struggles to answer student's straightforward Q's. Avoid if possible - she marks hard if you don't show interest in her flat lectures.

Dr Blackburn is a great professor, she is extremely knowledgable and passionate (class taken: Indigenous Sociology). Although a little timid when lecturing, she teaches you important & relevant things to the course and leaves out all of the unnecessary stuff. Ask questions, go to office hours, and most importantly go to class. Attendance success

Very nice prof, but can be a little nervous and unsure at times. Prepares you really well for exam and MT which are quite easy. Poster project is a good way to get easy marks as well. Loved the course

Decent prof. Either go to lecture and read slides or textbook. Same thing really. She tries to make it interesting but I fell asleep several times. MT and exam written was super easy but mc was kind of trivial. Did well on both though. Also, group poster proj wasn't too bad. Easy marks.

Wonderful professor, if a bit nervous. Exams are super super easy (10 MC, 5 matching, that kind of thing). READ the textbook

BRUTAL... Nervous, vague, and a tough marker. Plus her name sounds evil... Blackburn. Its like a darkness and pain combo.

Dr. Blackburn was very well organized, picked very relevant readings, was approachable and open to individuals' personal ideas in and out of class, pointed me towards relevant articles and readings for my paper, and delivered some very gripping lectures on central, current, and extremelly relevant contemporary anthropological issues. I recommend...

Made me uniterested in anthro, extreme scatterbrain, everyone falling asleep, heard she is better in upper level...marks wAAAAy too hard for the teaching she delivers.TA was abrasive but better if you got to know her. I couldnt tell you if carol was smart or not... tooscared to teach let alone look up from the podium. Avoid at all costs

She did her best with the boring subject matter than she had to work with. The course was well-organized, and she was very clear regarding assignments and exams. Tried to engage students as best she could. If Anth 300 is mandatory, take it from Dr. Blackburn.

Carole is extremely helpful and a great prof. She did an excellant job teaching a required class. Made it as interesting as possible and her lectures were interesting as she makes you think about all the readings and general issues. She has clearly come over her fear of public speaking. Great Prof!!

Prof. Blackburn's course contents are VERY well thought out- you can tell that she puts a great deal of effort into making the class as interesting as possible. Overall, the marking is fair albeit tough, and the readings are reasonable for the level of the course- I really enjoyed them.

I dreaded taking this class, but it turned out pretty good. I think the success of the course, however, depended as much on the students as it did on the prof. She has high expectations of students, but at least you can look up to her as an example. Organised, clear, respectful, and utterly dull.

for a required course, it wasnt so bad. but the TA was such a brutal marker. dr.blackburn selected good readings. i wish she was stronger tho... it was although she had no control over the class. she couldnt even start the class without one of the guys making the class shut up.

She does as good as anyone for a brutally boring course like this, her lectures and interactive aspects of them get you to figure out the most important parts of the exhaustive readings (which is my main complaint, settle down - we do have other courses with other readings to cope with)
