The assignments were fun, but only worth 1 point that later came in handy on the tests and essays. Your whole grade is based on 4 tests and essays, so do bad on one and you spend the rest of the semester getting your grade up. That being said, I got a 70 on a test and managed to get an A- in the class, so it is not impossible. I would recommend it

You can tell he is extremely passionate about his field and knows his stuff. The lectures were interesting, I learned quite a bit in each one. There was a lot of reading involved between classes but the articles selected were usually good reads and were compatible with the lecture material.

I know some get bored in this class, but if you're interested in the topic and do the readings ahead like you're supposed to, it's eye-opening. Otherwise, expect to get lost. Prof. Hays is smart&knowledgeable, adds practical context to the topic. Tests- hard to pass if you miss class/get behind, but he'll always help you if you ask.

Excellent Prof. Passionate about the material and makes it interesting. Lots of tests and papers but, if you pay attention to the lecture, you can make the tests. Always there for questions if needed. Gives great feedback, exactly succinct and to the point.

Awful professor. His brief short answer questions he will take points off if you write anything less than half a page.

Biological Anthropology. Hybrid class so fast past, lots of reading. Timed tests w/essays on line. Prof. Hays' lectures are interesting and if you listen - contain information needed for tests. Good to have a Prof. worked digs and shares his passion for anthropology. I am not a science major but learned valuable info about h. sapiens.

He has this tendency to say "and so forth" a lot and will completely fade off when saying something like the thought just died. I have no idea how I even got through that class with a decent grade but it was strait forward enough.

The class is a little boring and he side tracks a lot. But he does know his stuff and is passionate about it. Very nice guy, if you follow along the class is easy to pass, it doesn't require too much work, but it's difficult if you're not truly interested.

I took his medical anthro class over 3 weeks during the summer. It was time consuming but easy to do in 3 weeks because all the info was fresh in my head when taking the tests. His classes are very interesting and he's a fun guy, just be prepared to read a bit.
